Boons are one of the most important features in An Average Campaign, giving your character permanent buffs that can shape how you play the game. These passive abilities can improve your stats, boost survivability, or even grant special effects during combat.

What Are Boons in An Average Campaign?
Boons are passive buffs that enhance your character’s performance during runs. You can equip multiple boons at once depending on your available slots. There are two main types of boons:
- Starter Boons – Can be purchased from the Tavern Master using gold earned from runs.
- Unlockable Boons – Require you to complete specific achievements or in-game events to unlock.
Starter Boons (Buy from Tavern Master)
Starter Boons are easy to access and can be purchased using the gold you earn while playing. Visit the Tavern Master NPC to buy them before your run begins.
- Trained Start with 3 extra stat points. 10
- Force of Will Survive one fatal attack per run. 30
- Elven Skin Take 20% less Force damage. 20
- The Pinnacle Take 1.5x more damage but gain +1 stat point after every combat. 100
- Stealthy 100% crit on first attack, +25% crit damage, but -15% total damage. 70
- Alert +5 bonus to initiative. 20
- Overtime Start with 75% damage for 5 turns; after that gain +2 energy and +20% damage. 100
- Nobility Start with 150 gold but -10 HP. 10
- Opportunist +25% damage to fresh enemies, -10% otherwise. 50
- Thick Hide Take 10% less physical damage. 20
- Silvered Arms Physical attacks deal Force damage and scale 0.5% with INT. 50
- Selfless Heart +20% outgoing healing, -10% incoming healing and damage. 50
- Destined 30% of received damage is delayed to next turn. 50
- Well Rested Heal +5 HP after each combat. 30
- Bulk Up Start with +10 HP but -3 initiative. 20
- Inconspicuous -15% aggro generation. 10
- Summoner Supreme Summons gain +30% HP and +10% damage. 50
These are excellent for building your character early. For example, Force of Will is great for surviving longer runs, while The Pinnacle benefits players who focus on long-term stat growth.
Unlockable Boons (Special Requirements)
Unlockable Boons are harder to get since they require specific achievements, events, or actions during your playthroughs. Here’s how to obtain each one:
- The Chosen One +5 STR and 20% more effective stat checks; guaranteed to pull the Sword from the Stone. Pull the Sword from the Stone event.
- Potential Bunny Deal 75% less damage but start with a Bunny companion. Last-hit a dungeon boss using a Bunny.
- Flow State Each dodge gives +0.6 crit damage & +0.2 dodge chance (max 50 stacks). After 40 dodges, cap rises to 85% but take +15% damage. Win the
- Deadend Saloon fight vs. two Gunmen.
- Vampiric Bloodline +7.5% lifesteal; take +25% fire & holy damage. Kill a Vampire and become a Bloodkin Warlock.
- Well Prepared Start with 2 minor health potions & 1 minor energy potion. Get True Potion from the Potion Seller.
- Mage Birthsign +15% INT, start with random low-level scroll, take +25% damage. Equip a scroll as a Mage.
- Natural 20 5% crit chance and 200% base crit damage. Slay the Giant in the Forest and enter the Dungeon.
- Ourpled Take 5% less Necrotic & Force damage. Small chance from eating sweets given by Granny.
- Cleansing Healing removes 1 stack of DoT debuffs but is 20% less effective. Become a Druid.
- Energy Conserver 15% chance to gain extra energy each turn. Unlock the Elementalism subclass.
- Weak Points +10% flat critical damage. Unlock the Assassin subclass.
- Perseverance When below 50% HP, gain 10% damage reduction. Obtain the Knight class.
- Honed Mind Focus debuff lasts an extra turn; +15% damage but take +25% more damage. Kill Nedyak (Void Event in Portal).
- Daredevil Impulse Dealing damage grants Impulse (up to 6). Each stack gives +5% damage and at max grants 10% lifesteal; -5% base damage and +20% damage taken. Defeat Devilman.
- Keen Eye +5% flat crit chance. Unlock Drifter.
