Step by Step Guide to Get Into Calm Zone
Step 1: Unlock the Submarine
Start your journey at Roslit Bay, near the Oil Rig. You’ll find a Scientist NPC standing there. To unlock the submarine, follow these steps:
- Open the Menu.
- Scroll down and enter the code “TEMPORARYSUBMARINE”.
- Redeem the code — it will automatically give you all submarine parts (back fins, metal panels, side fins, top, and windows).
- Equip and install each part, then talk to the Scientist again to finish building the submarine.
After this, a short cutscene will play showing the lighthouse explosion that opens the path to Mariana’s Veil.
Step 2: Descend to Volcanic Vents
Use your submarine and travel down to Volcanic Vents — the first major underwater area. You’ll need to complete a small fishing task here, Catch the following items:
- Infernal Iguana Fish
- Blisterback Blenny
- Inferno Hide
Use Garbage Bait with a Low Luck Rod for a better chance of catching them. Once you have all three, deliver them back to the volcanic terminal to receive the Glimmer Fin Suit and a heat upgrade for your submarine, allowing you to descend deeper.
Step 3: Explore Challenges Deep
After completing Volcanic Vents, a new tunnel opens leading to Challenges Deep — a frozen biome. Here, you’ll need to gather:
- Cryo Skin
- Polar Prowler
- Use your previously earned Glimmer Suit
Fish in the icy area using the same low-luck setup, preferably at nighttime and during winter for better catch chances. Once all three are collected, submit them to earn another submarine upgrade and resistance boost.
Step 4: Descend to Abyssal Zenith
Now, you can travel even deeper to Abyssal Zenith, the next major region. Be patient — it’s a long descent. You’ll need to:
- Avoid Anglerfish during the tunnel sequence (move carefully, or you’ll be sent back).
- Once through, fish for: Abyssal Bearded Sea Devil, & Void Glow Ghost Fish!
Equip diving gear, flippers, and bring a Kraken or Orca mount for safety. When you have all the items, deliver them back to the shrine to unlock the final path.
Step 5: Enter the Calm Zone
After completing Abyssal Zenith’s tasks, you can now descend even further — this path leads straight into the Calm Zone. This peaceful, deep-sea area is the final destination of your underwater journey, representing the deepest part of the game currently accessible.

- Use Traveler’s Whistle – Buy it from the Traveling Merchant to teleport between areas like Volcanic Vents and Challenges Deep.
