Crafting is a major new system added in the Lightning Update. It turns raw materials you collect while exploring and fishing into useful consumables: food, potions, and other utility items that can shift a fight or speed up progression. This guide walks you through how crafting works, what you can make, where to get materials, and smart ways to use crafted items.
Crafting gives you tools that combat alone can’t provide: sustained healing outside PvP, environmental immunities, damage buffs, loot-finding aids, and more. If you want to get the most out of the new content (bosses, submerged island, fishing, and the Lightning Event), learning to craft and farm materials is essential.

How to start crafting — the basics
- Collect materials. Many crafting materials are earned from fishing, sea events, drop chests, and special enemies (including the dragon stage). Some recipes are exclusive to fishing chests.
- Get wooden planks. Wooden planks are the basic “tool” that activates crafting. In your inventory, click a stack of wooden planks and hit Use to place a campfire. The campfire is your crafting station.
- Open the crafting menu. With the campfire active, the craftable recipes tied to the materials in your inventory become available. Select a recipe and craft it if you have the required ingredients.
- Consume or store. Crafted food and potions go into your inventory. Use them as needed — some effects are disabled in PvP, so pay attention to each recipe’s notes.
Where to get crafting materials
- Fishing — Fishing yields fish, treasure chests, and rare items that contain recipes or crafting mats. Higher seas and rare catches are your best bet for high-tier materials.
- Sea events & Lightning Event — Event enemies and charged spawns drop token-style rewards and materials. During the Lightning Event, electrified enemies drop Summer Tokens and other event mats.
- Dragon Stage / World bosses — The dragon-stage spawns randomly in seas and can drop materials used in advanced recipes.
- Exploration & chests — Submerged island and other new zones have chests and enemy drops that feed the crafting pool.

Crafting tips and best practices
- Stack your farming: combine fishing runs, sea events, and dragon-stage hunts into one loop so materials pile up naturally.
- Use Loot Seeker for chest-heavy zones to speed material collection.
- Save damage/fortune potions for boss pushes or dedicated farming sessions to maximize return on rare materials.
- Prioritize rod and bait upgrades if you rely on fishing for materials — better bait = rarer materials = better recipes.
- Experiment with timing: crafting and consuming Zerk’s Elixir before a boss’s enrage or DPS window shortens fights dramatically.
- Craft outside PvP when possible; many recipes are tuned for PvE and will be nerfed/disabled in competitive encounters.
