New Moon Guide How to Get the Nichirin Katana & All Ore Locations!

The New Moon update introduces one of the most important weapons for slayers — the Nichirin Katana. This sword isn’t just for show; it’s essential for advancing your strength and unlocking more powerful techniques. In this guide, we’ll go step-by-step through how to get your first Nichirin Katana quickly, including all material locations and rank requirements you’ll need to craft it.

Requirements to Craft Nichirin Katana

Before you can craft your Nichirin Katana, there are a few key requirements to meet:

  • 10 Scarlet Crimson Ores
  • 5 Scarlet Sands
  • Rank: Tsuchinoto (or higher)

Even if you already have the materials, you won’t be able to craft the Nichirin Katana unless you’ve reached the Tsuchinoto rank. Many players get stuck here because the crafting option doesn’t activate until you hit that rank.

Step 1: Get a Pickaxe

You’ll need a Pickaxe to mine the required ores.

  • Start from the Slayer Recruiter area.
  • Follow the road straight ahead until you find the Pickaxe location marker.
  • You can press “P” on your keyboard to highlight Points of Interest to make this easier.
  • Once you reach the spot, press E to interact and collect the pickaxe.

If the pickaxe disappears from your Points of Interest list, you’ve successfully obtained it.

Step 2: Collect Scarlet Ores

Now that you have a pickaxe, it’s time to mine for Scarlet Crimson Ores.

  • From the Slayer Recruiter, follow the path toward the waterfall area.
  • Start climbing the cliff near the waterfall — the first ore nodes can be found along the base.
  • Each ore deposit gives you Scarlet Crimson Ore, and you’ll need 10 pieces total.
  • If the lower spots are empty, climb higher — there are four more ore nodes at the top.

These ores respawn periodically, so if they’re missing, wait a few minutes or hop to a new server.

Step 3: Gather Scarlet Sands

Next, you’ll need Scarlet Sand, another crucial crafting item.

  • From the waterfall area, head toward the Water Trainer location.
  • Don’t go all the way — take the path that branches off before reaching the trainer.
  • You’ll find Scarlet Sand deposits glowing in red near the rocks.

Mine at least five Scarlet Sands to complete this step.

Step 4: Craft the Nichirin Katana

Once you have 10 Scarlet Ores, 5 Scarlet Sands, and have reached Tsuchinoto rank, it’s time to forge your sword.

  1. Open your Points of Interest (P) and locate the Wandering Swordsman in the beginner town.
  2. Go to him and interact.
  3. If you can’t click the craft button, it means you’re still below Tsuchinoto rank or missing some materials.
  4. Once all requirements are met, you’ll see the crafting option become available.

After crafting, your materials will be consumed, and you’ll receive your Nichirin Katana — a sleek and powerful weapon worthy of a Demon Slayer.

The Nichirin Katana is a major milestone in New Moon, and while the process may seem grindy, it’s completely worth it. Just make sure to rank up to Tsuchinoto before trying to craft, or you’ll waste time rejoining and wondering why it doesn’t work.

Now that you know where to find every material and how to unlock the sword, you’ll have your Nichirin Katana ready in no time. Use it well in your journey against demons — and keep an eye out for future updates that may expand its power even further.
