In Deepwoken, Oaths represent the ultimate expression of a character’s ideals and the power drawn from them. By swearing an Oath, your character gains new abilities, traits, and a distinct playstyle that sets them apart from the ordinary adventurer. This guide will break down everything you need to know about Oaths — including obtainable ones, upcoming updates, how to skip progression, and what happens if you decide to break your Oath.

What Are Oaths in Deepwoken?

Oaths are powerful vows that reflect a character’s beliefs, granting unique abilities tied to specific rules or philosophies. They act similarly to Talents but are considered special Talent Cards that don’t take up normal talent slots. Players can only wield one Oath at a time, and each one defines both your combat potential and your story path.

Every player begins as a Pathfinder, meaning they have no Oath yet. While being Oathless doesn’t offer special bonuses, it can prevent other players from targeting you for Oath-related quests or progressions.

Oath-based damage, known as Oath Damage, is unique and only countered by Oathless status or universal defenses such as Reinforce and To the Finish.

All Obtainable Oaths

Each Oath requires specific stats or levels before you can claim it. Here’s a summary of all currently available Oaths in Deepwoken:

  • Oathless – No stat requirement.
  • Arcwarder – 20 Fire + 20 Lightning + 20 Fortitude.
  • Bladeharper – 75 Medium or 90 combined Weapon + 25 Strength or Agility.
  • Blightsurger – 80 combined Strength, Fortitude, or Agility + 40 Willpower or Lightning.
  • Blindseer – 40 Willpower.
  • Chainwarden – 40 combined Strength, Fortitude, or Willpower.
  • Contractor – No stat requirement.
  • Dawnwalker – Level 15 required.
  • Fadetrimmer – Level 12 required.
  • Jetstriker – 50 Agility.
  • Linkstrider – No stat requirement.
  • Saintsworn – 15 Fire + 15 Ice + 15 Lightning + 15 Wind + 15 Shadow.
  • Saltchemist – 75 Intelligence.
  • Silentheart – 75 Weapon + 25 Strength + 25 Agility or Charisma combined.
  • Soulbreaker – 50 combined Willpower or Charisma.
  • Starkindred – 40 Strength.
  • Visionshaper – 50 Charisma.

Upcoming Oaths

Two new Oaths are expected in future updates:

  • Warmaster – Connected to The Circle of Honor and opposing the Contractor Oath. Its lore ties to Warden Jericho and the Windrunner.
  • Chef – No details revealed yet, but expected to bring unique cooking-based mechanics.

Oath Skipping

If you’ve already maxed out a specific Oath on another slot, you can skip its progression in future playthroughs. Simply visit the Oath NPC again (such as the Blindseer’s glyphs or the Linkstrider machine) and spend 10 Knowledge to instantly regain the Oath’s full set of powers. However, certain Oaths — like Chainwarden, Bladeharper, Blightsurger, and Soulbreaker — cannot yet be skipped this way.

Oathbreaker – How to Remove Your Oath

You can renounce your Oath by visiting the Shrine of Yun’Shul, but be warned — breaking an Oath often has consequences, including lost reputation or permanent lockout from reclaiming it. For example:

  • Arcwarder – Cannot be reobtained; lose Ignition Union reputation.
  • Contractor – Instantly marked as a villain with Etrea and The Ministry; cannot be reobtained.
  • Jetstriker – Can be reobtained through Alirian after a short dialogue.
  • Silentheart, Starkindred, and Saintsworn – Cannot be reobtained once broken.
  • Others like Dawnwalker, Blindseer, and Fadetrimmer – Can be reobtained with extra requirements.

Each Oath has its own lore-based reaction when broken, further deepening the story’s world-building.

Lore Oaths

Some Oaths have been mentioned by NPCs or developers but haven’t been released yet:

  • Warmaster – Said to be tied to The Circle of Honor, opposing Contractor players who follow Zi’eer. Known users include Warden Jericho.
  • Time Magic (Void Oath) – Referenced by the Knives of Eylis and Arch_Mage, rumored to manipulate time through the Voidsea’s power rather than pure “time magic.”

Oaths are one of Deepwoken’s defining features — shaping your gameplay, lore, and combat potential. Whether you aim to become a fearless Jetstriker, a mystical Blindseer, or an intimidating Silentheart, your Oath determines the kind of story your character tells. Choose wisely, because breaking your Oath may close its path forever — and in Deepwoken, every vow has a price.
