MapleStory Idle RPG How to Get Ancient Weapons, Awakening, and Promotion Guide!

Weapons are one of the most important parts of progression in MapleStory Idle RPG. They not only define your combat power (CP) but also boost your overall stats through the inventory effect system. This guide breaks down everything you need to know about weapon rarity, awakening, and how to finally unlock the strongest gear in the game — the Ancient Weapons.

Weapon Rarity System

Weapons in MapleStory Idle RPG are color-coded based on rarity. Each color represents a tier of strength and drop rate:

  • Gray – Basic
  • Light Blue – Rare
  • Purple – Epic
  • Yellow – Unique
  • Green – Legendary
  • Red – Mystic
  • Deep Blue – Ancient (Highest Tier)

Ancient weapons cannot be obtained directly through the gacha draw system. They must be earned through upgrading and promotion, making them the ultimate milestone for dedicated players.

Awakening System Explained

Each weapon you acquire has a counter under its icon, shown as 0/5. Every duplicate copy of that weapon adds progress toward awakening. Once you collect five copies, you can awaken it to gain a star. Each star not only strengthens the weapon but also increases its maximum level cap by 20. Here’s how the progression works:

  • 1 Star – Level cap 120
  • 2 Stars – Level cap 140
  • 3 Stars – Level cap 160
  • 4 Stars – Level cap 180
  • 5 Stars – Level cap 200

Once you’ve reached five stars, your weapon is ready for promotion — the next stage toward Ancient rarity.

Promotion to Ancient Weapons

Promotion is where your hard work pays off. You can promote weapons between tiers, for example:

  • T3 → T2
  • T2 → T1
  • T1 Mystic → Ancient

This means that to unlock an Ancient weapon, you must fully awaken a T1 Mystic weapon to 5 stars first. Ancient weapons are not available in the gacha pool, so only players who commit to upgrading and promoting can reach this level.

Enhancing and Leveling Up Weapons

To upgrade your weapons, you’ll need Weapon Enhancers, which can be obtained from:

  • Dungeon drops
  • Event rewards
  • In-game shop purchases

Enhancing increases base stats, while awakening and promotion raise potential. Even lower-rank weapons are worth keeping because their inventory effects boost your total CP, even if you’re not using them.

Building toward an Ancient weapon requires patience, strategy, and a bit of luck from weapon draws. Focus on collecting duplicates, investing in enhancers, and maximizing your current equipment before moving to higher tiers.

Every weapon you enhance adds to your long-term power, so don’t skip lower tiers early on. With consistent farming and smart resource management, you’ll eventually reach the Ancient tier — the true symbol of strength in MapleStory Idle RPG.
