Merlin Quest Fisch Guide, How to Start & Find All Shards!

This update brings a new questline tied to Merlin, shattered relics, and the mysterious rifts opening across Sunstone. How the Merlin Quest Starts

Head over to Sunstone, then go to Merlin’s Hut. Once you arrive, you’ll notice the hut is destroyed and Merlin’s crystal ball is off. Interact with Merlin to begin the quest. He explains that he tried to recreate a cosmic relic, dropped his orb, and accidentally created rifts around Sunstone.

Your job is to enter these rifts and bring back the broken pieces—called Shards. Choose the dialogue option to accept the mission, and the shard hunt officially begins.

Finding the Rifts Around Sunstone

Rifts spawn randomly around the Sunstone area. Common spawn spots include:

• In front of Merlin’s Hut
• Near the ladder
• Around the Sunstone cliffs

Each rift has a unique color, and each color matches a different shard. Once you find a rift, walk inside to start a mini obby. These obbies are easy, especially if you have a glider, since you can skip multiple jumps. Inside each rift, climb or glide your way to the end, collect the shard, and exit.

All Merlin Shards and Their Colors

There are currently four shards you can collect:

• Shard of Embers – Red/Orange portal
• Shard of Nebulus – Purple portal
• Shard of Roots – Green portal
• Shard of Tides – Blue portal

Each shard gives a different reward when turned in to Merlin.

All Merlin Shard Rewards

Bring the shard to Merlin while holding it in your hand and choose “I have a shard for you.” Here’s what each one gives:

1. Shard of Embers (Red/Orange)

Reward: Magic Orb Title

2. Shard of Roots (Green)

Reward: Magic Ball Bobber

A bobber based on Merlin’s orb design.

3. Shard of Tides (Blue)

Reward: Enchanted Book Lantern

A glowing book lantern cosmetic. One of the best-looking rewards from the quest.

4. Shard of Nebulus (Purple)

Reward: Gilded Staff (Skin)

This is where the mystery begins. The Gilded Staff appears to be a skin for a rod that no one has discovered yet. It doesn’t attach to any current rod, which means it’s likely tied to a secret rod coming in a future update.

The UFO Mystery at Roslit

Travel to Roslit, then walk to the lighthouse area. You’ll find a crashed UFO burning on the shoreline. This part of the update hasn’t fully unlocked yet. Devs hinted that this upcoming quest will be similar to the Brick Rod challenge—meaning long, complicated, and likely tied to the Gilded Staff skin. Right now, the alien questline is not fully accessible in the QA server, but the UFO crash clearly sets up the next phase of the storyline.

Black Market Spawns Explained

A new Black Market can appear during weekends. It spawns randomly around the map and contains preset items that change each time. It may spawn several times across the weekend. Possible items include returning rods, cosmetics, and other mystery items, though the exact lineup isn’t confirmed yet. Keep an eye out—the Black Market can appear in different regions like:

• Sunstone
• Forsaken Shores
• Roslit

Once it disappears, it respawns again later with a new inventory.

Rebalancing Changes & Aquarium Update

This update also includes:

Rod & Enchant Rebalancing

Multiple rods and enchants have been adjusted, buffed, or nerfed. A full breakdown is coming later, but expect changes to the strength and performance of several builds.

Aquarium Quality-of-Life Feature

You can now:

• Equip best fish for cash
• Equip best fish for XP
• Show cosmetic fish

This instantly rearranges your aquarium to maximize money or XP gains.

The Merlin Shard Quest is simple, but it sets up much bigger content coming next week. Collect the shards, grab your cosmetics, and keep an eye out for the purple shard reward—the Gilded Staff is almost certainly tied to the secret rod linked with the UFO crash at Roslit.

Once the full alien storyline drops, the quest will expand into something much harder. For now, farm rifts, watch black market spawns, and prepare for the next phase of the update.
