Many players notice other people using special weapon skills—like airborne slashes or combos that look straight out of a stylish action game—and wonder how to unlock them. If you’re using weapons such as the Nameless Sword or Strategic Sword and only see the default moves, you’re not alone.
The game hides some of its strongest techniques behind passive upgrades and “Inner Ways,” which can completely change how your weapon behaves. This guide explains how those skill variations work and what you need to unlock them. Check out our Where Winds Meet Codes for more rewards!
Understanding How Weapon Skills Change
Each weapon in Where Winds Meet has special passives known as Inner Ways. These determine how your martial arts combos behave. Without the correct Inner Way equipped, your weapon will stay stuck with its most basic form, even if other players are using flashier versions of the same attack. For example, the Nameless Sword’s signature multi-slash attack requires the Sword Morph Inner Way.
- Without Sword Morph → You only fire one slash.
- With Sword Morph → You can fire three slashes.
- Sword Morph upgraded to Tier 2 → Big boost in damage and consistency.
If you’ve been wondering why your combo looks weaker than other players using the same sword, this is usually the reason.
Requirements for the Triple Slash Air Combo
Step 1: Use the Standard Combo Input
To trigger the slash projectiles:
- Tap Q three times to build up your blue shield meter
- Hold R to charge and fire the slashes
This is the default requirement for most sword-based ranged slash moves.
Step 2: Unlock Level 35 Passive Inner Talents
At level 35 you gain access to Passive Inner Talent Upgrades. Each weapon has a golden passive, and some of these passives remove restrictions.
For the Nameless Sword:
- The golden passive removes the blue shield requirement, letting you shoot the three slashes without building the shield first.
This is why higher-level players can perform the move instantly.
Step 3: Upgrade Your Inner Ways
Some weapons—especially the Nameless Sword—need Inner Ways upgraded to Tier 2 for full performance. Without the upgraded version, your damage will be significantly lower. Players often overlook this and end up stuck with weaker skill variants.
What About the Stylish Dante-Like Air Slashes?
If you’re referring to the airborne multi-hit slashes seen on some players, those are also tied to:
- Specific Inner Ways
- Passive upgrades
- Weapon mastery level
Right now, only a few weapons can mimic those “Devil May Cry style” slashes. The Nameless Sword is the most common because its upgraded Inner Way triggers flashier combo patterns. Other weapons do get special animations and variations, but each requires its own Inner Way path. So yes—multiple weapons can change moves, but only if you unlock the right passives.
Changing martial arts skills in Where Winds Meet isn’t done through menus or weapon skins. It’s all about Inner Ways, passive talents, and weapon progression. If your sword or weapon still looks plain, you’re likely missing one of the key passives. Once you reach level 35 and start upgrading Inner Ways, your weapon moveset will open up a lot more. Keep leveling, upgrade your Inner Ways, and you’ll soon unlock the same stylish combos you see other players using.
