Since pets are one of the most important long-term upgrades in the game, knowing what each pet does and which ones are worth chasing will make a big difference before spending tokens, crafting materials, or opening Gem Chests. Below is a full guide covering every newly added pet in this update, how they work, and why they matter.
All New Pets in Trader Update Grow a Garden
This update introduces eight new pets, each with a different ability and use case. Some are obtained through the new trading system, while others come from Gem Chests or crafting.
Here’s the full list:
- Silver Piggy
- Golden Piggy
- Clam
- Magpie
- Bearded Dragon
- Sheckling
- Pack Mule
- Chimera
Some pets are already usable, while a few are still testing-phase items and may receive adjustments or finalized stats when officially released.
Silver Piggy
The Silver Piggy boosts growth speed of nearby plants. Its ability scales based on how many Silver Ingot cosmetics are placed in your garden.
- Ability effect: Adds extra growth speed within 20 studs, increasing per Silver Ingot placed.
This pet becomes especially valuable if Silver Ingots are cheap to craft, making it a solid passive farming pet.
Best for:
- Large farms
- AFK growing setups
- Early resource scaling
Golden Piggy
This pet focuses on XP gain and is also affected by placed cosmetics.
- Ability effect: Adds bonus XP to plants in a 30-stud radius, scaling with the number of Gold Ingots placed.
Depending on whether the bonus has a cap, this could become one of the strongest pets for leveling quickly.
Best for:
- Leveling farm layouts
- Progression pushes
- Automating XP gains
Clam
Clam is a support pet designed to help conserve watering resources.
- Ability effect: When using watering cans, there is a 6% chance the can won’t be consumed.
With upgrades, this percentage could become much higher. It’s especially useful when farming high-tier plants that require frequent watering.
Best for:
- Long sessions
- Players who farm manually
- Saving resources early and mid-game
Magpie
Magpie is tied to silver sales and focuses on giving random bonus drops during selling.
- Ability effect: When selling silver fruit, there’s a 7% chance to grant a random reward.
While situational, Magpie can help generate extra items without extra effort, making silver fruit more useful beyond selling.
Best for:
- Late-game silver production
- Passive bonus farming
Bearded Dragon
This is currently the rarest pet from the Gem Chest and marked as Divine rarity. While its model exists, its ability wasn’t finished during testing.
Expected role based on rarity and placement:
- A high-value utility perk
- Possibly tied to trading, crafting boosts, or fruit multipliers
Since it’s the main 1% chest reward, players should expect a strong late-game perk later when finalized.
Best for:
- Collectors
- Traders
- Future meta builds
Sheckling
This pet is currently listed but not fully shown in the preview testing. The internal data hints it may be a support pet tied to either trading or item bonuses. Once fully discovered, its ability will likely join the trade-focused group.
Best for now:
- Collection only
Pack Mule
Pack Mule plays a key role in the new crafting system.
- Ability effect: Increases the weight (kg) of crafted Pets.
Since the new trading system assigns value based on rarity and item weight, this pet becomes essential for anyone focusing on trading. The increase in weight may help crafted items become more valuable when sold or traded.
Best for:
- High-value trading
- Late-game crafting farms
- Profit optimization
Chimera
The Chimera is one of the most complex pets in this update and may be linked to a ritual crafting system similar to the Lich.
Ability breakdown based on early testing:
- Every 13 minutes, performs a roar effect
- Shared cooldown across multiple copies
- Has a chance to duplicate bought items
- Can ram players and give them a common egg
- Acts as a multi-effect hybrid pet combining mechanics from other pets
This makes Chimera a multipurpose pet with both functional utility and interactive effects.
Best for:
- Trading
- Progression farming
- Passive egg generation
The Trader Update introduces pets that go beyond simple farming bonuses. Many now tie into trading, crafting value, economic scaling, and long-term progression. With systems like trade tokens, trading booths, Gem Chests, and wraps, pets now play a larger role in both gameplay and marketplace value.
If you’re farming tonight, consider prioritizing the pets that boost efficiency first, then move into collection and rare hunting. This update is designed to shift the economy permanently, so getting strong pets early will give a long-term advantage in Grow a Garden.
