Diverse Piece just dropped a new Tokyo Ghoul update, and many players are now hunting for two big additions: Kaneki and Arima. Both characters need specific requirements, items, and boss drops before you can unlock them.
If you’re confused or just want to save time, this guide will break everything down step by step, including how to start, where to farm materials, and how both characters perform in battle. Let’s get into it. Also check out our Diverse Piece Codes for more rewards.
A new island themed around Tokyo Ghoul is now available in Diverse Piece. This location includes new enemies, quests, and two new boss encounters tied to both Arima and Kaneki. You’ll be spending most of your time here farming materials because both characters require multiple quest stages before you can unlock them.
How to Get Arima
Arima is only obtainable if your character is Human, so make sure you haven’t switched race yet. If you plan to get both characters, it’s better to unlock Arima first.
- Farm 75 Broken Quinque Drops from Ghoul Investigators. These mobs are found around the Tokyo Ghoul island.
- Collect 300 RC Cells Dropped by Ghouls and the One-Eyed Owl boss.
- Obtain 25 Owl Fragments Dropped only by the One-Eyed Owl boss.
- Acquire 1 Owl Core Also dropped from the One-Eyed Owl boss.
Once you finish the quest line, Arima becomes unlocked.
Boss Spawn Times
- One-Eyed Owl Boss: Spawns every 1 hour (real-time).
- Arima Boss: Appears every 5 minutes, and may drop: A title. An accessory!
How to Get Kaneki & Become Ghoul
Kaneki requires you to switch to the Ghoul race, so only start this after finishing Arima if you want both. Talk to the Kano NPC and gather the following:
- 300 Flesh
- 100 RC Cells
- 2 Ghoul Eyes Drops from Kaneki Boss or One-Eyed Owl.
After completing these requirements, your race becomes Ghoul.
Kaneki Quest Requirements
Once you’re Ghoul, talk to the Kaneki NPC to begin the quest line:
- Farm 50 Mutated Flesh Drops from Ghouls.
- Collect 100 RC Cells
Obtain:
- 1 Ghoul Eye
- 1 Rinkaku Core
- Both drop from the Kaneki Boss.
Kaneki Boss Spawn Time
- Appears every 5 minutes in the same island.
Arima vs Kaneki: Which One Is Better?
Both characters have strengths, but they play differently.
Arima
- Good damage output
- Strong skills but some abilities have short range, especially the grab move
- Best for close combat players
- Solid overall, especially in PvP
Kaneki
- Feels stronger based on testing
- Fast cooldowns, allowing skill spam
- Works great even without max level
- Strong sustain due to Ghoul race benefits
Ghoul Race Passive Perks
If you’re planning to use Kaneki long-term, the race perks help a lot:
- 10% Lifesteal per hit
- 3x regeneration outside combat
- 15% damage reduction
These bonuses make Kaneki very durable in both PvE and PvP.
This update adds a fun grind with two strong characters, and most of your time will be spent waiting for bosses and farming drops. Both are worth getting, but Kaneki currently feels more reliable thanks to fast skills, lifesteal, and strong damage output. That wraps up the guide. If you’re farming both characters, patience will be key because of the boss timers and drop rates. Keep grinding, and soon you’ll have both Arima and Kaneki in your roster in Diverse Piece.
