What is Retro Maja?

Retro Maja is a limited Secret fish with a retro-themed look and one of the lowest rarities in the Classic event. Because it’s event-limited and hard to get, collectors and completionists hunt it early and often.

Where to catch Retro Maja

Retro Maja can only be caught in Iron Cavern. It does not spawn on Classic Island itself. To access Iron Cavern you must hand over four Guppy types found around Classic Island’s river area:

  1. Builderman Guppy
  2. Guest Guppy
  3. Brighteye Guppy
  4. Shedletsky Guppy

Turn those in and the portal to Iron Cavern will unlock.

Best spots inside Iron Cavern

You’ll most commonly encounter Retro Maja in:

  • Left or right fishing spots inside the main Iron Cavern room
  • The special event room during Disco Event

The Disco Event is the best time to fish for Retro Maja since it boosts chances for Rare, Mythic, and Secret spawns.

How rare is Retro Maja?

Retro Maja’s reported rarity is 1 in 4,000,000. That means luck and long sessions matter—don’t expect a quick grab.

Tips & Tricks to increase your chances Catching Retro Maja

1. Bring a high-tier rod

Use a strong rod (Elemental rod or the latest event rod/upgrades.. Secret fish are tougher to reel in—higher rod strength shortens fights and reduces failed catches.

2. Stack luck-focused enchantments

Prioritize enchantments that raise luck rather than raw damage. Recommended enchants:

  • Lucky
  • Leprechaun
  • Stormhunter

These increase the frequency of Rare/Mythic/Secret hooks over time.

3. Fish during Disco Event

Disco Event runs every 2 hours and typically lasts about 30 minutes. During this window: Secret spawn chances rise, Mutations and event loot appear more often, Plan to be in Iron Cavern for each Disco Event if you’re farming Retro Maja.

4. Use AFK / long-session farming

Because the spawn rate is so low, AFK or auto-cast farming is efficient. Before leaving for a long run, confirm: Auto-cast is enabled, Inventory has free space, You stay in Iron Cavern and don’t accidentally zone out! This lets you accumulate thousands of casts with minimal input.

If you want a complete event index, collect rares/secrets, or flip high-value event fish, then yes — it’s worth the grind. Its limited nature makes it valuable after the event ends. Retro Maja is strictly an Iron Cavern target and demands patience.

Unlock the cavern by turning in the four Guppies, bring a top-tier rod, stack luck enchants, and make the most of Disco Events with AFK sessions. Start early, keep consistent, and the longer you fish in Iron Cavern, the higher your chance Retro Maja will finally bite. Good luck.
