Getting started in The Forge can feel overwhelming, but once you understand how mining, forging, races, and combat work together, you can progress much faster. This guide breaks everything down so you can level up efficiently, push through Island 1, and unlock Island 2 without wasting time. What to Do First for Progression?
1. Finish Sensei Moro Tutorial
Start by talking to Sensei Moro. His tutorial teaches you how to mine, forge, and handle basic mechanics. This sets you up for everything that follows.
2. Pick the Right Race for Your Playstyle
Your race affects your weapon type and how efficiently you progress.
- Greatsword/Heavy Weapon Races: Dragon Born, Golem, Minotaur, Orc. Great reach, tanky stats, perfect for zombie quests.
- Fast Weapon Races: Goblin, Elf, smaller races. Better movement, faster attacks, ideal for mining quests.
- Angel/Demon: Flexible hybrid races that can use almost any weapon effectively.
- Avoid Human: No real perks and slows progression.
Choosing a strong race early makes quests, combat, and forging much easier.
Questing Path on Island 1
There are two important NPCs:
- Umut the Brave – gives zombie slaying quests.
- Nord – gives mining quests.
Pick quests based on your race:
- Heavy races (Dragon Born, Orc, Minotaur): Do zombie quests. Your reach and tankiness make them easy.
- Small/fast races (Goblin, Elf): Focus on mining quests. Agility helps you farm rocks quickly.
Regardless of your role, upgrade both your weapon and pickaxe. Even if you focus on combat, you’ll need a strong pickaxe later.
Enhancing & Using Runes
As you defeat enemies, you obtain Essence, which is used to enhance your equipment.
- Visit the Enhancer NPC to strengthen weapons or armor.
- Visit the Rune Maker to attach or detach runes.
You can move runes from one item to another, which is useful when switching gear.
Some races burn enemies or apply status effects naturally, so choose runes based on what your race lacks.
How to Progress Fast to Island 2
To unlock Island 2, reach Level 10 and open the portal. Here’s the fastest route:
1. Complete NPC quests
They give XP, Essence, and money—everything needed to keep improving your items.
2. Claim everything in your Index
This is one of the biggest secrets for fast leveling. Open your Index, scroll through:
- Mined ores
- Slain enemies
- Forged items
- Armor you’ve made
Claiming all discoveries gives a massive chunk of XP and money. You can easily double your gold just from these rewards.
3. Enhance your armor
Once you head into Island 2, even strong races like Dragon Born take heavy damage. Upgrading armor before entering is important.
4. Buy only what you need
In Island 1, stop at the Iron Pickaxe. Save your money until Island 2 because the Cobalt Pickaxe is far better than anything in the first area.
Forging Tips for Better Weapons
Forging is based on material rarity and quantity:
- Few rare ores → better small weapons (daggers, shortswords)
- Large amounts of common ores → large weapons (greatswords, colossal swords), but lower quality
- Large amounts of rare ores → best possible gear
To forge good items:
- Use your rarest materials for higher tier weapons.
- Use your large stacks of common ores when you want larger items.
- Pay attention during all forging mini-games for a higher quality score.
After forging, attach useful runes and enhance the weapon to increase performance.
What Happens After Reaching World 2
Island 2 is much harder, but also more rewarding:
- Stronger enemies
- Higher-value ores
- Better forging outcomes
- New quests and gear progression
- Cannon launchers that send you to the main mining area
Buy potions like:
- Health potions
- Damage potions
- Mining speed potions
- Danger Sense (helps avoid sneak attacks)
These make exploring World 2 safer and smoother.
What The Forge Is About
The Forge is an RPG-style mining and forging game where every ore you collect can turn into weapons, armor, and tools. Each forged item has different stats depending on the material and amount of ore you use.
The game mixes combat quests and mining quests, allowing you to choose your path depending on your race, weapon type, and playstyle. Since the game gives you freedom to experiment, understanding early progression is key to reaching stronger areas.
The Forge rewards players who explore, test different weapons, and learn how races affect combat and mining. If you follow this progression path—finish the tutorial, pick the right race, take the correct quests, enhance wisely, and claim all index rewards—you’ll reach Island 2 quickly and start farming the stronger ores the game is known for. Keep upgrading your tools, experiment with forging recipes, and you’ll progress through new worlds much faster.
