How to Get Coin Mutation in Grow a Garden Guide
This guide explains how the new Coin Mutation works and how to get the Shecklings, the pet responsible for creating it. How the Coin Mutation Works
Every six minutes, the Shecklings will leave your inventory and walk toward your Coin Fruit plant. When it reaches the plant, it sacrifices itself, causing every fruit on that plant to transform into Coin Mutation fruits.
Important notes:
- The Shecklings disappears after the sacrifice.
- You cannot copy it with Mimic.
- You must get another Shecklings if you want to trigger Coin Mutation again.
This makes the Coin Mutation a one-time effect per pet.
What Is the Shecklings

The Shecklings is one of the new pets added in the update, and it’s the only pet that can trigger the Coin Mutation. You won’t find it in eggs or crates — the only way to obtain it is through the Trader Event once you reach streak 17. Even then, the drop chance is very low at around 2.98%.
Once you get it, the Shecklings gives a small passive boost by producing one Shekels per second. The real function, however, comes from what it does every six minutes.
Is Coin Mutation Worth It
Right now, many players feel that Coin Mutation doesn’t make much impact. Most long-time players already have millions of shekels, and fruit mutations no longer play a major role in late-game progression. Because of that, the Shecklings is seen more as a collector pet than a practical farming tool.
If you’re a completionist or want every unique pet in the game, the Shecklings is worth picking up. But if you’re looking for efficiency or progression power, this pet’s effect is very limited.
Getting Coin Mutation in Grow a Garden is simple in concept but requires reaching streak 17 and hoping for the small 2.98% chance drop. The transformation effect is interesting, but in the current meta, it doesn’t offer much value beyond novelty. Treat the Shecklings as a special-item collectible rather than a core progression tool.
