Progressing in The Forge can feel overwhelming at first, especially with so many pickaxes, quests, and money-making options available. This guide breaks the process down into a simple path you can follow from total beginner to late-game miner. Everything here is based on real in-game progression and tested steps, so you can level up faster without wasting time or resources. Starting in World 1
When you first load into the game, you’ll go through a set of tutorial quests teaching you how to forge, mine, craft, and learn about races. After that, your journey starts for real.
Choosing a Good Race
Races matter because of their passives. Some are rare, but even the common ones can be strong.
Two standouts early on are:
- Demon – Strong overall and useful for combat-heavy areas.
- Goblin – Looks strange, but the 12% shop discount saves a lot of money through your whole progression.
If you don’t like your race, you can reroll, but these two are worth keeping.
First Pickaxe Path
After the tutorial you get the Iron Pickaxe. It’s decent for your first steps, giving a small luck boost and enough power to mine the starter ores.
If you’re free-to-play, just mine the stones and sandstones in World 1. Once you collect enough ores, head to the furnace, throw everything inside, and craft greatswords. These weapons can then be sold for early money. This is your main income source for the first hour.
If you’re spending Robux, you can buy the starter bundle and jump straight to the Platinum Pickaxe, but this guide sticks to the free path.
Your goal in World 1:
- Farm ores
- Craft greatswords
- Sell them
- Repeat until you have enough money for your next pickaxe
Moving to the Platinum Pickaxe
Once you can afford it, buy the Platinum Pickaxe. This lets you mine deeper ores in World 1, which speeds up your crafting and income a lot. After buying it, remember to sell your old pickaxe for extra money back.
Keep mining the deeper boulders, craft more greatswords, and build your money stack. Your next target is to reach 10,000 coins.
World 2: Forgotten Kingdom
With 10k coins, use the portal and head into the Forgotten Kingdom. This area gives better ores and has a set of quests worth doing.
Buy the Cobalt Pickaxe
Your first purchase in this world should be the Cobalt Pickaxe. It offers:
- 40 mine power
- 35% luck
- 2 rune slots
After buying it, sell your old Platinum Pickaxe to recover coins.
Do Money-Heavy Quests
Talk to Captain Rowan. His quests involve defeating enemies and give very solid rewards. Completing these boosts your early progression faster than pure mining.
Claim Your Index Rewards
Open your Index and claim every unclaimed ore, forge, and item reward. This gives free money and XP, speeding up your path to better pickaxes.
Building Toward Late Game
With your Cobalt Pickaxe, keep mining and crafting greatswords. Mining remains the best money method until very late in the game. Your next goal is the Uranium Pickaxe, which costs more but provides a major upgrade.
Once you can afford it:
- Buy the Uranium Pickaxe
- Sell your Cobalt
- Mine again until you reach around 100k coins
When you hit 100k and sell your Uranium, you’ll have around 125k. That’s important for the next step.
Getting the Arcane Pickaxe (Best in the Game)
Return to World 1, talk to the NPC who gives a quest about finding a guitar. The steps are:
- Enter the cave
- Turn left
- Move into the hidden area
- Pick up the guitar
- Return it to the quest giver
You’ll get a key. Take this key to the gate on the right side of World 1, unlock it, and head inside.
Here you can buy the Arcane Pickaxe, currently the strongest pickaxe in the game.
What To Do With the Arcane Pickaxe
With this pickaxe, you can mine rare ores consistently. These rare ores give special effects when used in equipment crafting—adding things like extra damage, burn effects, or stat boosts.
Your end-game loop becomes:
- Mine rare ores
- Forge better armor and weapons
- Add special ore combinations for effects
- Keep improving until you have top-tier equipment
If you follow these steps, you’ll progress through The Forge smoothly without wasting money on the wrong items or farming in slow areas. Focus on steady pickaxe upgrades, quest rewards, and smart mining. Once you reach the Arcane Pickaxe, the rest of the game opens up, and you can start building powerful end-game gear. Keep mining, keep upgrading, and your progression will stay consistent all the way to max gear.
