Catch A Monster Roblox Beginner Guide, How to Improve Ranks, Money & Tips!
Starting out in Catch A Monster can feel a little overwhelming, especially with so many systems like ranks, eggs, bosses, and upgrading monsters. This guide breaks everything down step-by-step so you can build a strong team from the very beginning and progress faster. Also check out our Catch a Monster Codes for more rewards!
Getting Started as a New Player

When you spawn for the first time you begin at Level 1. Follow the main quests shown on your screen. These quests teach the basics, unlock features, and reward you with money and experience.
Make sure you reach:
- Level 5 – unlocks your 3rd monster slot
- Level 7 – unlocks auto-attack, making grinding easier
On the first island, pick up every egg you find. Eggs are useful later for index progress and monster upgrades. Also, run to the portal and enter the Hub. The Hub lets you:
- Heal your monsters
- Upgrade monsters (Rank Up system)
- Buy new capture balls
Remember the cost of capture balls here because you’ll be buying a lot later.
Understanding Monster Ranks

Every monster you catch has a rank that affects its stats. Ranks run from E up to S and possibly higher. Higher rank = more damage and health.
Example of stat increase from rank upgrades:
- Damage can improve by around 30%
- Health can improve by around 20%
Early game goal:
- Build a full team of C rank monsters before moving to the next island
- Always replace weak monsters with better ones from the next area
Ranking Up Monsters (Fusion Method)
Most monsters you catch will be E, D, or C rank. If you want to increase their rank:
- Visit Pet Upgrades in the Hub
- Fuse duplicates to raise their rank up to Rank B
Requirements vary by species:
- Early monsters: about 4 copies
- Stronger monsters: about 6 copies
Rank B is the highest you can achieve by fusion, but the boost is very noticeable and helps a lot with bosses.
Shinies and Brutes Explained
Some monsters may spawn with special traits:
- Shiny 30% extra critical chance
- Brute 30% extra damage and health
Shinies sparkle when roaming in the world. Brutes have purple lightning effects and appear slightly larger. You can also level and rank them up just like normal monsters. Collecting these also boosts Index progress, which gives rewards.
Bosses and Boss Eggs

Bosses appear in different islands and spawn on a timer. Defeating a boss drops a special egg. These eggs hatch into that boss monster only.
Current boss examples:
- Volcano Boss → Drops Pyrolasm Egg
- Ice Boss (Glazedon) → Drops Glacier Egg
- Special Event Bosses (like the Thanksgiving one)
Boss spawn rules:
- Bosses appear every ~15 minutes
- Public servers only drop one egg, so AFK farming may cause someone else to steal the drop
Use mounts, disable auto-attack when traveling, and stay alert when a notification appears at the top of the screen.
All Egg Types (Current)
- Swamp Egg – first island monsters
- Fire Egg – volcano island monsters, only way to get Noctane (outside events)
- Pyrolasm Egg – guaranteed Flaregon boss monster
- Ice Egg – ice island monsters, only way to get Star Shade
- Glacier Egg – guaranteed Glazedon boss monster
- Turkey/Event Eggs – limited event monsters
Always keep incubators running. Even bad rolls can be sold for money.
Capture Ball Upgrades
Buying stronger balls makes catching higher-level monsters much easier. Unlock these early:
- Boost Ball
- Rare Ball
- Advanced Ball
Event balls are also very strong. If a seasonal event appears, grind for those balls if possible.
Best Game Passes for Progress

Optional, but very helpful:
- High Rank Chance – easier to catch better ranked monsters
- 2x XP – helps both you and your monsters level faster
- Extra inventory slots are also useful when farming
Money & XP Farming Spots
Here are three effective places to grind depending on your progress:
1. Ice Island – Sproutusk & Floffairy Area
- Good XP per kill
- A bit spread out, slower respawn
2. Volcano Island – Skider Cave
- Baby enemies give coins and XP
- Shinies/brutes can appear on babies but you can’t catch them
3. Best Farming Spot (Recommended)
- Area with many fast-spawning monsters
- Higher monster density = more drops and faster cash gain
- Use monsters like Windy Hoof or Glazedon to clear crowds quickly
Sell duplicates and unlocked monsters regularly for instant cash.
Important Tip: Lock any monster you want to keep. Accidentally selling a rare or boss monster happens often.
Quick Tips for Beginners
- Always keep 3 incubators running
- Upgrade capture balls before upgrading monsters
- Aim for a full C or B rank team before moving zones
- Watch for boss spawn alerts and try different servers if needed
- Keep eggs for late-game Index requirements
- Lock everything you want to keep
With the right start, Catch A Monster becomes a lot more enjoyable. Focus on unlocking slots, strengthening your roster with better ranks, and farming eggs and monsters early. The more you understand ranks, bosses, and upgrade systems, the easier it becomes to build a strong team that can handle future updates. If you stay consistent with farming and hatching eggs, you’ll progress faster than most new players and fill your Index in no time.
