Christmas Update Grow a Garden Leaks, What You need to do?

A huge Christmas update is almost here in Grow a Garden, and players have a short window to prepare before it drops. This update is expected to bring new seeds, a long event, fresh mechanics, and limited-time rewards. If you want a strong start, there are a few important tasks you should complete now.

The steps below are based on early test access, and while some details may change, these tips will help you get ahead on day one. Also check out our Grow a Garden Codes for more rewards!

Stock Up on Every Seed Available

Head straight to the Seed Shop and buy out everything, even the ones no one normally cares about. This includes basic seeds like:

  • Carrots
  • Strawberries
  • Blueberries
  • Tomatoes
  • Corn
  • Buttercups

These seeds have been needed for past events, and they will likely play a role again. Buy them, plant them, and fill your garden with variety rather than focusing only on rare seeds.

Use Ascension Now While It’s Cheap

The Ascension system no longer requires fruit, only shekels. That means you should spam Ascension upgrades right now. Each ascension gives special coins used to buy permanent upgrades such as:

  • Pet inventory capacity
  • Egg planting capacity

These upgrades stay at a stable cost, so collecting them early makes future farming easier, especially when new pets arrive in the Christmas update.

Build a Mutation Team for Your Plants

You will need as many plant mutations as possible. Equip pets that spread mutations across your garden. A strong example is the T-Rex, which copies one mutation and spreads it to multiple plants. Mutations like Blight and Brain Rot are easy to get and great for leveling pets while preparing your garden.

Do not worry about why mutations matter yet. They are most likely tied to new seeds or event progression, so having them on your plants is a huge advantage.

Collect and Level Up Your Pets

Leveling your pets right now is extremely important. Feed them mutated fruits to boost their experience faster. New gear and event pets might require certain pet levels, so starting early ensures you can use them immediately. If you own limited pets, keep them and don’t trade them until their future value becomes clear.

Gather Unique Plants (Not Duplicates)

Before the update launches, try collecting as many different plant types as possible instead of stacking copies. For example:

  • Pick up one Mango, not ten Mangoes.
  • Grab one Glow Thorn, one Parsley, etc.

Daily Deals are great for getting seeds that aren’t normally obtainable in the shop, including unique ones like Pineapple. These might be required for crafting or event mechanics.

Buy Gem Eggs Before They Disappear

The Gem Egg from the Egg Shop may be removed soon. Pets from it could become valuable once they turn unobtainable, especially Ruby Squids, Panthers, and other trade-worthy pets. If you earn trade tokens from the Farmers Market or have a chance to get them for free, take it now.

Finish the Season Pass and Spend Your Points

The current Season Pass is ending in a day. Use your remaining points before they reset. The best reward to target is Grow All, a rare Prismatic item that doesn’t appear often. Do not let your points go to waste.

Create a New Save Slot for Permanent Plants

Use one of the new save slots to build a garden filled only with permanent plants you want to keep for long-term events. You don’t need mutations here yet—just a clean space dedicated to unique plants that will help when certain event quests unlock.

This update will last for three weeks and continue through multiple parts, including an advent-style quest system. Starting early means getting access to seeds and rewards others will have to wait for. If you want limited blossoms like the leaked Gingerbread/Bone blossom type, preparing now is the smartest move. Finish your setup, gather your seeds, level your pets, and build your gardens. Once the Christmas event hits, you’ll be ready to sprint through the content instead of struggling behind the crowd.
