This updated tier list breaks down the strongest characters in the game and helps you decide who to invest in for long-term progress. Also check out our Twilight Chronicle Codes for more rewards!

Best Characters in Twilight Chronicle – Explained

  • The list below is divided into four tiers: Meta (S), Strong (A), Decent (B), and Skippable (C).

Every character has a different role, so choosing a balanced lineup is key. While lower-rarity units can help early on, you’ll eventually want to focus on SSR+ units for the best results.

S Tier – Meta Units

These characters deliver top performance in almost every mode. They bring outstanding damage, utility, survivability, or a mix of all three.

Luna – Lightforged Sanctuary (Assault)

Luna excels at dealing true damage, stacking Holy Seals, and unleashing massive bursts once her Moonlight Marks reach full stacks. She’s a constant threat throughout the entire fight.

Sariel – Arcane Web Phantom (Guard)

Sariel is unmatched as a protector. He shields the weakest ally, restores HP across the team, reduces enemy crit chance, and even lowers enemy attack. A reliable defensive anchor.

Van Helsing – Demonhunt Blade (Assassin)

Van Helsing is a speed-focused attacker who enhances his basic attacks and hits incredibly hard. He also opens fights by striking first and dumping big AoE damage.

Ling – Arcane Web Phantom (Assault)

Ling deals strong upfront hits and applies Infect, leading to huge damage over time. Her passives ramp up quickly, letting her snowball hard in longer fights.

Raphael – Lightforged Sanctuary (Support)

Raphael is the most reliable healer in the game. She heals frequently, strengthens low-HP allies, builds Mercy stacks for improved recovery, and can even revive fallen teammates.

Michael – Lightforged Sanctuary (Assault)

Michael hits hard with both AoE and single-target skills. She applies Holy Seals, gains powerful stacks that boost her stats, and becomes immune to control.

Adele – Demonhunt Blade (Assassin)

Adele strikes low-defense enemies, applies Sigils that slow them down, and delivers true damage bursts. Critical hits trigger bonus attacks, letting her deal heavy single-target damage.

A Tier – Strong Units

These characters are extremely solid choices. They may not be as all-rounded as S Tier units, but they’re still excellent in most teams.

Renais – Lightforged Sanctuary (Assassin)

Renais grows stronger every turn thanks to Momentum stacks and counterattacks, making her a strong sustained damage unit.

Arthur – Lightforged Sanctuary (Control)

Arthur locks enemies down with Bind, preventing skill use. He gains speed and utility as Bind stacks fall off.

Azmodan – Reclusive Kindred (Guard)

A damage-heavy tank who hits harder the higher the enemy HP is. He also cheats death once per battle and comes back swinging.

Aurora – Lightforged Sanctuary (Assault)

Aurora increases magic damage taken by enemies and deals steady damage on her own, making her great for magic-focused teams.

Ying Gou – Arcane Web Phantom (Control)

A perfect Infect unit who pairs especially well with Ling thanks to their Fateful Bond.

Lilith – Arcane Web Phantom (Control)

Targets low-HP enemies to finish them off and spreads Infect effectively for steady damage.

Alucard – Reclusive Kindred (Assassin)

Stacks Bleed, boosts crit rate, and enters a powerful Demonkin state after stacking Bloodlust.

Sherry – Reclusive Kindred (Support)

A strong healer who applies Bleed, supports allies’ basic attack damage, and detonates Hex stacks for bonus true damage.

Isabella – Reclusive Kindred (Assault)

A great AoE attacker whose damage scales with enemy HP. Her self-shield boosts her own damage output as well.

Rose – Demonhunt Blade (Assassin)

Burst-heavy assassin that triggers extra team attacks after finishing off enemies.

Elegy – Demonhunt Blade (Assassin)

A crit-focused unit who hits extremely hard and applies Sigil when landing crits.

Garvin – Demonhunt Blade (Guard)

One of the best tanks for shielding allies and reducing crit damage taken. His ultimate hits surprisingly hard for a defensive unit.

B Tier – Decent Units

Good picks overall, but they may need a supportive team or have limitations that hold them back.

Notable characters include:

  • Dark Tide (Guard) – Great damage and debuffs but drains his own HP.
  • Albert (Support) – Strong shielding but weak damage.
  • Ada (Assault) – Good debuffs, but slow to ramp up.
  • Tinplate (Guard) – Good at soaking hits but provides no offense.
  • Kira (Assassin) – Solid damage but doesn’t synergize well with her faction.
  • Heidi (Support) – Simple healer with limited utility.
  • Valendine (Assassin) – Strong finisher but offers no team benefits.
  • Jacob (Guard) – Tough and self-sustaining but provides no team utility.
  • Theresa (Support) – Good heals, but lacking in coverage.
  • Uncle Ying (Assault) – Random targeting makes him unreliable.

C Tier – Skippable Units

These units fall behind in overall value and are generally not worth heavy investment:

  • Dracula – Weak damage output and unreliable sustain.
  • Orpheus – Requires Infect synergy to work but cannot apply it himself.
  • Bathory – Dependent on RNG for Bleed application, making her inconsistent.

Team Building Tips

When forming your lineup, keep these things in mind:

  • Always aim for a mix of damage dealers, supports, and defenders.
  • Pure damage works early but falls off later.
  • Activate Fateful Bonds whenever possible for stat boosts.
  • Focus your resources on SSR+ units as you progress.

With this tier list, you should have a clearer picture of which characters are worth upgrading and which ones perform best across all content. A well-balanced team built around these units will help you push deeper into Twilight Chronicle without getting stuck.
