How to Equip Mounts in Universal Tower Defense
After unlocking a mount, you still need to equip it before using it in the lobby. The process is simple and only takes a few steps.
Here’s how to equip and use a mount:
- While in the lobby, click the Emotes & Mounts button in the top-right corner.
- A purple selection wheel will appear. Click Open Inventory above the wheel.
- Inside the Emotes & Mounts inventory, select the mount you want to use. You can equip up to six items.
- Return to the wheel and click on the mount to spawn it in the lobby.
Once equipped, your mount will be visible to other players, letting you show off your progress.
How to Unlock All Mounts in Universal Tower Defense
All mounts in Universal Tower Defense are obtained through achievements. These achievements are grouped into sections, and many of them stay hidden until you finish the earlier requirements.
To unlock a specific mount, you must complete the related achievement and then manually claim the reward from the Achievements menu. Below is a breakdown of each mount and what you need to do to get it.
How to Get the Clay Owl Mount
The Clay Owl mount is unlocked through the Ninja achievement, which can be found under Story – Stage I. To complete this achievement, you need to clear all six acts of the Ninja Forest on Easy difficulty. This can be done solo or with a team.
Since Ninja Forest is the first world in the game, it is beginner-friendly, but having a decent setup still helps a lot. Before starting, talk to Roku in the lobby and redeem all available codes to boost your early progress.
Recommended unit types for this stage include:
- Fire units
- Rose units
Rose units are especially strong here, with Mythic units like Psycho and Shunks performing very well. Even lower-rarity options such as Triple Threat can carry you through the stage if upgraded properly.
You should also bring Fastcart to your team. This Epic unit is one of the best money farming units in the game and makes early stages much easier. You can only place one Fastcart per match, so upgrade it fully before focusing on damage units. Once you clear Act VI: Relentless Kitsune, head to the Achievements tab and claim the Clay Owl mount.
How to Get the Submarine Mount
The Submarine mount is tied to the Pirate Captain achievement, located under Story – Stage II. To unlock it, you must complete all six acts of the Marine Base on Hard difficulty, either solo or with other players.
Marine Base is more challenging, so unit choice matters more here. Effective unit types for this stage include:
- Rose
- Light
- Ice
- Wind
Just like in Ninja Forest, Fastcart remains extremely important for stable economy. For damage dealers, strong picks include Psycho and Shunks, while units like Ruka and Shakumira are solid lower-rarity alternatives that still perform well. After clearing Act VI: Dark Emperor, open the Achievements menu and claim the Submarine mount.
Mounts in Universal Tower Defense are a clear reward for players who put time and effort into clearing story stages and achievements. Whether it’s the Clay Owl from Ninja Forest or the Submarine from Marine Base, each mount represents a milestone in your journey.
By focusing on the right units, managing your economy with Fastcart, and completing story acts step by step, unlocking mounts becomes much more manageable. Once you have them, don’t forget to equip and use them in the lobby to proudly display your progress.
