Vow of Iron is one of the toughest early-game challenges in Deepwoken, especially for new or returning players. With limited healing, strict combat pacing, and dangerous routes, knowing the correct path can save hours of frustration.

This guide explains what to expect when starting Vow of Iron, how to collect all flasks, which boundaries matter the most, and how to progress safely from Power 1 all the way to the Rat King. Also check out our Roblox Deepwoken Shogun Guide.

Getting Started with Vow of Iron

After creating your character, the first thing you should do is check your memories and tasks. Ideal starting memories include Simeon Horror or Trial, as these allow early boss access and faster progression. If you plan to fight Primadon early, make sure you unlock the required boundary first. Missing this step can block your progress later.

Selling memory shards early is optional, but doing so can give you quick notes to pick up strong early talents like Rush Hour and Enhanced Flow. These talents help a lot during boss fights and movement-heavy sections.

Early Progression: Power 1 to Power 5

For fast leveling, Primadon is one of the best options if you have the correct memory. The fight itself is manageable even at low power if you stay patient and use dodge timing properly. Defeating Primadon gives a solid amount of notes and loot, which can be sold to quickly reach Power 5.

At Power 5, you unlock your main mantras and core combat options. Many Vow of Iron players prefer a basic attack-focused playstyle instead of relying on mantras or Berserk State, as resistances and clean execution are more reliable for boss fights.

All Flask Locations in Vow of Iron

All The Forge NPC Guide: Locations, Quests, and What They Do

Flasks are extremely important in Vow of Iron since healing is limited. Collecting all five flasks should be a top priority.

Miners Landing Flask

After reaching Miners Landing, head toward the carriage area to find your first flask. Before leaving, make sure to activate the hidden boundary nearby. This boundary saves across wipes and helps future runs.

Songseeker Flask

From Miners, travel toward Songseeker. On the right-side island, there is a boundary near the church area. Avoid caves in this region, as hostile creatures can easily end your run. Drop down carefully to grab the flask near the Songseeker Church.

Frozen Valley Flask

This area is dangerous due to Snow Knights and Deep Owl spawns. If enemies appear, logging out is safer than pushing forward. Once across the valley, you can find another flask near Frost-related equipment spawns. A nearby boundary is extremely useful and should always be activated.

Viridian Sanctuary Ruins Flask

This is the final flask location. Expect heavy parkour and broken jump pads, which may require switching servers if they are bugged. After reaching the ruins, grab the fifth flask and activate the Temple of Myrr boundary, which refills and permanently unlocks this flask.

Important Boundaries You Should Not Miss

Boundaries are critical in Vow of Iron because they persist across wipes and reduce travel time significantly. Key boundaries include:

  • Primadon boundary before the fight
  • Hidden boundary near Miners carriage
  • Songseeker Church boundary
  • Frozen Valley boundary near the fourth flask
  • Temple of Myrr boundary before the Shogun fight

Missing these boundaries means repeating long and dangerous routes every wipe.

Shogun Boss Fight Tips

Deepwoken Vow of Iron Guide, How to Beat Shogun Boss

The Shogun fight is a major skill check. The key rule here is patience. Do not get greedy. Focus on:

  • Jumping and parrying instead of over-attacking
  • Delaying cancels to bait predictable moves
  • Running away and healing when the Shogun reaches half HP
  • Baiting out his special attack before re-engaging

He can use his special multiple times, so stay alert and repeat the bait-and-punish pattern until the fight is over.

Powering Up and Reaching Rat King

After defeating the Shogun, continue grinding notes through jobs, bosses, or Primadon if available. Power costs increase significantly, and meaningful upgrades do not appear until Power 10. Once ready, head to Songseeker Mines and activate the food closet boundary. From there, proceed deeper to reach the Rat King fight.

Rat King Fight Advice

The Rat King looks intimidating but rewards calm play. Watch his movements, dodge cleanly, and never overcommit. Vow of Iron punishes greed more than anything else. If you stay disciplined, the fight becomes very manageable.

Vow of Iron in Deepwoken is all about preparation, patience, and route knowledge. By collecting all flasks early, unlocking key boundaries, and avoiding greedy combat habits, you can progress smoothly from Power 1 to the Rat King. Once you understand the flow, Vow of Iron becomes less about luck and more about execution.
