Boreal Pines Fisch, How to Complete This New Update Full Progression Guide!
The Boreal Pines update adds a full winter-themed area to Fisch with new gear, quests, fishing spots, and some of the strongest rods in the game. This update is not something you can rush without preparation, especially if you are new to cold regions. From required equipment to rare fish and limited-time rods, Boreal Pines has a lot going on. This guide breaks everything down step by step so you can clear the update without getting lost. Also check out our Fisch Codes for more rewards!
How to Reach Boreal Pines

Your journey starts at Moosewood. From there, head straight to the Northern Expedition portal, which is easy to spot thanks to its light blue glow. Enter the portal and you will arrive at the expedition exit area.
Once you are out:
- Right path leads to Northern Expedition
- Left path leads to Boreal Pines
Follow the left side toward the dock area where you will see a merchant and a ship. This is the main entrance to Boreal Pines.
Required Items Before Exploring

Before doing anything serious in Boreal Pines, you must have these two items:
Winter Cloak
The Winter Cloak is required to survive the cold. Without it, your temperature will drop quickly, making exploration impossible. To get it, you must fully summit the Northern Expedition and purchase it afterward.
Winter Boots
Regular boots make you move very slowly on snow. Winter Boots are mandatory to move normally in Boreal Pines.
How to Get Winter Boots
After entering Boreal Pines, follow the path until you reach a fork in the road. Go left and talk to an NPC named Marvin, marked with an exclamation point. Marvin introduces the new Quest Book system, where quests are now clearly organized with objectives and rewards.
Quest Requirements
Marvin will ask you for two items:
- Meg’s Fang
- Meg’s Spine
Where to Farm Meg’s Fang and Spine
Travel to Ancient Isles, specifically near the village and Floppy Lake. From there, head toward the waterfall area that leads to the Ancient Archives. Fish around this spot to easily obtain both items. Using a strong rod like Onirifalx helps speed this up.
Completing the Quest
- Return to Marvin while holding the Meg’s Fang
- Talk to him and select the first option
- Talk to him again while holding the Meg’s Spine
After turning in both items, you will receive Winter Boots. Equip them from your accessories, and you are now fully ready to explore Boreal Pines.
Important NPCs and Shops in Boreal Pines

Near Marvin, you will also find:
- Glider Vendor
- Jukebox
- Boreal Rod Merchant
Boreal Rod Stats
- Price: 18,000
- Lure Speed: 60%
- Luck: 50%
- Control: 0.05
- Resilience: 25%
- Max KG: 14,000
- Passive: Boreal mutation with slash effect
This rod is decent early on but not the main goal of the update.
Main Goals of the Boreal Pines Update
There are two main rods you will be chasing:
- Cryolash Rod (Permanent)
- North Pole Rod (Limited-time, Fischmas only)
How to Unlock Cryolash Rod

Cryolash costs 3.5 million, but you must first complete 100% of the Boreal Pines Bestiary.
Bestiary Fishing Locations
You must fish in three specific areas:
1. Crystal Fisher Cave
This cave contains:
- Glacial Squid (Mythic)
- Frostwyrm (Exotic)
Inside the cave, you will also see a frozen NPC. Equip a Lantern, stand close to him, and wait for the ice to melt. After freeing him, you receive a Cryogenic Crystal, which currently has no known use.
2. Frozen Lake Near Merchant
This frozen lake has multiple fishing pockets. Fish in all of them to complete several bestiary entries.
3. Mountain Lake (Above Cryolash Cabin)
Continue climbing past the Cryolash cabin to find a large lake. This area is very important. Here you must:
- Buy and place Reinforced Cages
- Catch Grease Sea Urchin, Snow Crab, and King Crab (Legendary)
These fish can only be caught using cages. Once all fish from these three locations are registered, you can return and buy the Cryolash.
Cryolash Rod Stats
- Lure Speed: 87%
- Luck: 149%
- Control: 0.1
- Resilience: 75%
- Max KG: 150,000
- Mutations: 50% Frozen, 10% Glacial
- Passive: Icicle slash effect
Frostwyrm Catching Tips
Frostwyrm is one of the hardest fish in the update. Important notes:
- Spawns only in Crystal Fisher Cave
- Best bait: Sapphire Krill and Frost Nova
- Much easier to spawn during Winter
- Can be affected by Sundials
Once winter ends, Frostwyrm becomes significantly harder to spawn, so prioritize this early.
How to Craft North Pole Rod
The North Pole Rod is crafted in the Ancient Archives and is only available during Fischmas.
Crafting Requirements
- 1 Frostbitten Northstar Whale
- 2 Essence of Star Frost
- 1 Frozen Frostwyrm
- 15,000 Bells
North Pole Rod Stats
- Lure Speed: 90%
- Luck: 177%
- Control: 0
- Resilience: 25%
- Max KG: Infinite
- Passive: Slash effects, +50% progression
- Mutation: Permafrost (10x sell value)
This is the strongest rod in the update and the main reason players grind Boreal Pines.
Secret Content Tease
The update mentions a secret feature in the patch notes, but it has not been discovered yet. More content may unlock in the coming days, so keep an eye out for future updates.
The Boreal Pines update is one of the biggest content drops in Fisch, offering new systems, challenging fish, and powerful rods. As long as you prepare properly with Winter Cloak and Winter Boots, the rest of the update becomes a structured grind rather than a confusing mess.
Focus on completing the bestiary early, farming Frostwyrm during winter, and gathering materials before Fischmas ends. If you do that, you won’t miss out on anything this update has to offer.
