The Devil Hunter playtest has opened the door for players to experiment with different builds, contracts, and fiends. With so many options available, choosing the right setup can feel confusing, especially if you are deciding between Public Safety, Yakuza, or Fiend-focused builds. This guide breaks down the ultimate Devil Hunter tier list, ranking the best contracts and fiends based on usefulness, damage potential, ease of use, and late-game value.

Devil Hunter Tier List

Devil Hunter Tier List, Best Contracts & Fiends Guide!

This tier list covers both human contracts and fiends, making it a complete reference in one place. Rankings are based on PvP strength, combo potential, survivability, and how well each option scales into late game. Some contracts shine early but fall off later, while others are difficult to obtain yet completely dominate once unlocked.

S Tier – Meta-Defining Picks

These contracts and fiends are currently the strongest choices in Devil Hunter. If you can obtain and use them properly, they should be the core of your build.

Mantis Devil

Mantis is widely considered broken in the current state of the game. Its grab-based move works on ragdolled targets, knocked-down enemies, and combo extensions. This makes it extremely oppressive in PvP and nearly impossible to punish. Until balance changes happen, Mantis sits at the very top.

Ghost Devil

Ghost excels in late game despite its heavy soul cost. Every move consumes a large portion of your soul bar, but the payoff is worth it. Its grab-based M1, ranged M2, and summon make it one of the best tools for combo starters and finishers. On top of that, high favor allows Ghost to spawn after death, forcing enemies to deal with it again.

Snake Devil

Snake is a late-game powerhouse locked behind a difficult trial. It can consume players and devils, has strong combo extenders, and performs extremely well in skilled hands. The only drawback is accessibility, but in terms of raw strength, it earns a top-tier spot.

Future Devil

Future may only have a single move, but that counter alone makes it elite. Landing multiple counters grants powerful invincibility frames, which are incredibly valuable in PvP. When paired with other counter-based abilities, Future becomes a must-have for Public Safety builds.

Power (Fiend)

Power is one of the most oppressive fiends available. Her fast M1 attacks, multi-hit moves, and lack of easy parry windows make her overwhelming, especially for newer players. Until adjusted, Power remains a dominant fiend pick.

A Tier – Strong and Reliable Choices

These options are highly effective and can compete with S-tier picks when used correctly, though they may have minor weaknesses.

Zombie Devil

Zombie is excellent for ganking and area control. Summoned mobs apply pressure and create chaos in fights. While enemies currently gain health packs from killing the summons, the contract is still very strong overall.

Shark Fiend

Shark offers insane swing speed, strong combo extension through dive mechanics, and powerful pressure in both PvP and PvE. Its strength becomes more apparent as the fiend levels up, making it one of the best long-term choices.

Angel Devil

Angel is still very strong despite being overshadowed by newer fiends. It offers solid damage and utility and remains a reliable option for many builds.

Octopus Devil

Octopus is not widely accessible yet, but it is expected to be one of the strongest contracts in the game. With strong combo extenders, a block-based passive, and excellent control tools, it rivals even Ghost in overall power.

Cucumber Devil

Cucumber is deceptively strong. Its M2 auto-locks onto enemies, forcing blocks or perfect dodges to escape. Against less experienced players, this makes it extremely effective and frustrating to deal with.

B Tier – Situational but Useful

These contracts are not meta-defining but still perform well in specific scenarios.

Curse Devil

Curse offers high damage and excellent combo potential with minimal soul cost. However, its questline is long and punishing since dying resets progress. Despite that, it remains a solid pick once unlocked.

Stone Devil

Stone Devil is easy to obtain and works well in early to mid game. It lacks late-game scaling, but it is not weak by any means.

Leech Devil

Leech shines in PvE thanks to its healing interactions with mobs. It allows players to solo raids more comfortably but lacks the pressure needed for high-level PvP.

Nail Devil

Nail relies heavily on critical hits. While usable, it does not excel enough in any area to compete with higher-tier options.

C Tier – Early Game or Niche Picks

These contracts are mostly used early on or for very specific playstyles.

Tomato Devil

Tomato used to be extremely strong but was heavily nerfed. It still works as an early-game option but does not scale well into late game.

Frog Devil

Frog provides basic pull mechanics but is very predictable. Skilled players can easily read and counter it.

Mold Devil

Mold lacks clear strengths and struggles to compete with other contracts. While some players find niche uses, it generally underperforms.

D Tier – Beginner Options Only

Fish Devil

Fish is easy to obtain and decent for beginners learning the game. However, its moves are unreliable against experienced players, making it unsuitable for serious PvP or late-game content.

Best Builds Based on Playstyle

  • Public Safety Builds: Future, Curse, Ghost
  • Yakuza Builds: Snake, Zombie, Mantis
  • Fiend Builds: Power, Shark, Angel

Choosing the right combination depends on your faction and skill level, but focusing on S and A tier options will give you the best results.

The Devil Hunter meta is still evolving, especially with balance changes expected after the playtest phase. While some contracts and fiends currently dominate, future updates may shift these rankings. For now, prioritizing high-tier options like Mantis, Ghost, Snake, and Power will give you a strong advantage in both PvP and PvE. As always, mastering your playstyle matters just as much as the tier itself, so experiment and find what works best for you.
