At the same time, a mutated Tree can drop extra coins every time you chop it. With more than 10 different mutations available, understanding how this system works can give you a huge advantage as you progress through the game. This guide breaks down all mutation types, how to unlock them, and which ones are worth chasing.
How to Get Mutations in Chop Your Tree
Right now, there are two main ways to obtain mutations in Chop Your Tree. Both apply mutations automatically and randomly, either to your Watering Can or directly to your Tree.
Void Mutations
Void Mutations are the rarest and strongest mutations in the game. There are 12 Void Mutations in total, and they become available only after you reach Prestige 1. Once Prestige 1 is unlocked, you gain access to the Void area and the Mutation Tree. Using Crystals, you can buy upgrades that increase your chance of rolling Void Mutations. To unlock Prestige 1, you must:
- Earn 75M to expand your plot
- Purchase the Prestige Shrine for 15M
- Buy Prestige 1 for 20M
After Prestiging, all your money, axes, and watering cans are reset. In return, you receive 750 Crystals, which can be spent on stat boosts, skill upgrades, and mutation chance improvements.
All Void Mutations and Their Effects
Below is the full list of Void Mutations currently available, along with their multipliers and rarity:
- Shiny – 2x XP and coin gain (1 in 300 chance)
- Gold – 3x XP and coin gain (1 in 700)
- Rainbow – 5x XP and coin gain (1 in 1.125K)
- Dark Matter – 10x XP and coin gain (1 in 10K)
- Obsidian – 20x XP and coin gain (1 in 75K)
- Nuclear – 40x XP and coin gain (1 in 500K)
- Spectrum – 120x XP and coin gain (1 in 2M)
- Plasma – 400x XP and coin gain (1 in 15M)
- Cryo-Star – 2,000x XP and coin gain (1 in 100M)
- Singularity – 25,000x XP and coin gain (1 in 500M)
- Null Apex – 250,000x XP and coin gain (1 in 5B)
- Apotheosis – 10,000,000x XP and coin gain (1 in 50B)
The higher the multiplier, the lower the chance of obtaining the mutation, making the strongest ones extremely rare.
Weather Mutations in Chop Your Tree
In addition to Void Mutations, the game also features Weather Events that can apply temporary mutations. There are four different weather types, each with its own effect and bonus multiplier. Weather Events and Their Mutations:
- Acid Rain
The map is covered in green liquid with green rain falling from the sky.
Mutation: Acid – 2x XP and coin gain - Frost
Snow and fog take over the map, creating a winter atmosphere.
Mutation: Frozen – 3x XP and coin gain - Full Moon
The map darkens as a bright full moon appears.
Mutation: Cursed – 4x XP and coin gain - Galactic
The sky turns dark and fills with visible galaxies.
Mutation: Galactic – 5x XP and coin gain
Weather Mutations are much easier to get compared to Void Mutations, but their bonuses are smaller and usually temporary.
Mutations are one of the most important mechanics in Chop Your Tree if you want faster progress and higher profits. Early on, Weather Mutations are a great boost and easy to take advantage of. Once you unlock Prestige 1, Void Mutations become the main goal, offering massive XP and coin multipliers that completely change how fast you grow. By focusing on mutation upgrades and smart Prestige timing, you can maximize every tree cut and push your progression much further.
