Cthulhu The Forge Guide, Location & How to Find For Fast Farming

The Heavenly Pickaxe quest in The Forge is one of the most demanding challenges in the game right now, mainly because of how hard it is to find Cthulhu mobs consistently. Many players get stuck at the final steps simply due to bad spawn rates. How to Enter the Maze Island in The Forge

To start progressing toward the Heavenly Pickaxe, you must enter the Maze Island. There is only one legitimate way to get there. You need 1 Coinite to access the island. Coinite can be obtained by mining inside the Raven Cave, and for endgame players, this is fairly easy to farm.

Once you have Coinite, head to the NPC near the ship. Talk to him and choose the option to travel. Swimming is not an option, as it will instantly kill your character. Using the ship consumes one Coinite and transports you directly to the Maze Island.

Keep in mind that the maze resets daily, meaning its layout changes every day. Because of this, fixed maze maps are not reliable.

Understanding the Maze and the Fungi Shop

The maze is massive and intentionally confusing. Instead of memorizing turns, you should focus on understanding your direction. One important landmark inside the maze is the Fungi Shop NPC. This shop sells:

• Fungi Potion
• Three new weapon recipes
• New weapon types useful for progression

The key detail is that the Fungi Shop always spawns in the center of the maze, even after daily resets. This makes it the best reference point. When you find the shop, take note of which direction is forward and which is back. From there, exploration becomes much easier, and you can intentionally move toward mob-heavy areas instead of looping endlessly.

Where to Find Cthulhu in The Forge

Cthulhu mobs spawn in a large cave located at the front side of the maze. This cave is also where you receive angel-related quests if you have not already accepted them. The biggest issue is that Cthulhu spawn rates are extremely low. Walking the maze normally and waiting for spawns can take a very long time, especially since one of the final quests requires defeating 15 Cthulhu.

Fastest Cthulhu Farming Method

Currently, the fastest and most reliable method to spawn Cthulhu is server rejoining. Here’s how it works:

1. Enter Maze Island using Coinite
2. Head to the Cthulhu cave
3. If no Cthulhu spawns, leave the server
4. Rejoin a new server and repeat

In most cases, rejoining causes mob spawns to reset. This often results in one or more Cthulhu spawning near the cave entrance immediately after loading in. In some runs, players report seeing two or even three Cthulhu at once. This method consumes Coinite, so it is only recommended if you have enough resources. If Coinite is limited, manual farming is still possible but significantly slower.

Is the Heavenly Pickaxe Worth It?

Stat-wise, the Heavenly Pickaxe is currently weaker than the Dragon Head Pickaxe in terms of mining power. Its mining speed is better, but its luck bonus does not outperform the Dragon Head enough to justify the effort for many players. Because the Heavenly Pickaxe is slightly cheaper, the lower stats make some sense. However, considering how difficult the quest is, many players feel it deserves a buff.

Finding Cthulhu in The Forge is less about skill and more about understanding spawn behavior. With the maze resetting daily and low natural spawn rates, rejoining servers is currently the most effective strategy. If you are aiming to complete the Heavenly Pickaxe quest as fast as possible, farming Coinite and using the rejoin method will save you hours of frustration.
