Building and decorating a home in Hytale can be very satisfying, especially if you enjoy detailed designs. Many players want to use glass for windows or modern-style builds, but the crafting system works differently than expected.
If you are coming from Minecraft, this can feel confusing at first. This guide explains the current state of glass in Hytale, how to make windows, what glass items you can craft right now, and where to find sand for future crafting.
How Glass Works in Hytale
Hytale is still in Early Access, which means several building features are not fully available yet. At the moment, you cannot craft traditional glass blocks or colored glass panes like in Minecraft.
Full glass walls and detailed window designs are planned for the future, but they are not part of the game yet. For now, the only way to visually add glass to buildings is through window structures rather than individual glass blocks.
How to Make Windows in Hytale
To create windows, you will need the Builder’s Workbench. Steps to craft windows:
- Craft and place a Builder’s Workbench.
- Gather any type of wood you prefer.
- Interact with the Builder’s Workbench and add the wood to the crafting menu.
- Browse the available building parts and select Windows.
Currently, the only option available is the Simple Wooden Window. While the selection is limited right now, more window styles and materials are expected to be added in future updates.
How to Make Glass Bottles
Although glass blocks are not craftable yet, Glass Bottles can still be made in Hytale. Here is how it works:
- Collect Sand.
- Smelt the Sand to create Glass Bottles.
Unlike Minecraft, smelting sand does not produce glass blocks. The result is limited to bottles only, which are mainly used for crafting and gameplay systems rather than decoration.
Where to Find Sand in Hytale
Sand does not appear in the same places you might expect. Digging near rivers usually gives Sandstone, not sand. To find sand:
- Travel to the Badlands biome, a desert-like area with a large yellow landscape.
- Bring a Shovel for faster digging.
- Mine sand directly from the ground in this biome.
The Badlands are the main reliable source of sand, making them important if you plan to craft glass bottles or prepare materials for future updates.
Glass crafting in Hytale is still limited, but understanding the current systems can help you plan your builds better. While full glass blocks and panes are not available yet, windows and glass bottles still offer some options. As development continues, more decorative glass features are expected to arrive, making now a good time to gather sand and prepare for future building upgrades.
