The Dream feature in Heartopia is an important system that becomes available once your character reaches level 16. This feature opens up new activities such as solving puzzles and writing books, both of which are required for progression and can also be used to earn extra in-game currency. Many players miss or misunderstand this feature, so this guide explains everything clearly from start to finish. Also check out our Heartopia Main Hobbies Guide and Heartopia Codes for more rewards!
How to Unlock Dream and Writing Features in Heartopia
After reaching level 16, the Dream and Book Writing features should unlock automatically. You can check this by opening the Town Guide and navigating to the Daily Life Guide section. A Dream-related mission should appear there.
If the Dream feature does not show up even though you are already level 16, try relogging. This is a common issue, and the feature usually unlocks after logging back into the game.
Once unlocked, you will be asked to talk to NPC Annie. The early missions are simple conversations that introduce you to the Dream system and guide you toward upgrading any Dream to level 2.
Dream System Overview and How to Level It Up
Inside the Dream menu (balloon icon), you will find several tabs:
- Puzzle
- Writing
- Music
- Coming Soon
For early progression, Puzzle Dream is the fastest and easiest option.
How to Earn Dream Progress Points
To increase your Dream level, you need Dream Progress Points:
- Level 2 requires 500 points
- Level 3 requires 1,500 points
These points are earned by completing tasks listed in the Dream Log, such as:
- Buying Puzzle Boxes
- Completing puzzles
- Placing finished puzzles
- Completing Dream Goals in order
Important note:
Dream missions must be completed sequentially. Skipping steps will not count toward mission completion, even if you already meet the requirements.
Puzzle Tips for Fast Progress and Extra Gold
Puzzle Boxes can be purchased from the Catching General Store. Each day, you can buy up to five puzzles, with different sizes available (16, 32, 64, and 100 pieces).
Helpful tips:
- Prioritize puzzles bought with Gold, not Wishing Stars
- 16-piece puzzles are the fastest for mission completion
- Finish the puzzle, store it, then place it to clear mission objectives
- Completed puzzles can be sold for Gold, providing small but steady profits
Fast puzzle-solving method:
- Start with edge pieces
- Fill the center afterward
- Smaller puzzles are much more efficient for Dream progression
Writing Dream Guide and How to Publish Books
At level 16, you will unlock the Writing Desk, allowing you to start the Writing Dream missions.
How to Write a Book
- Open the Writing tab
- Click the plus (+) icon
- Enter a book title
- Add your content (you can paste text from outside the game)
- Insert images if required
- Adjust paragraph spacing if needed
Each book has limits on word count and images, so plan your content carefully.
How to Publish a Book
- Go to the Publish menu (globe icon)
- Fill in the tagline and description
- Publish using a Book Permit
- Book Permits can be purchased using the blue crystal currency
After publishing, books can still be edited, renamed, or deleted if necessary.
How to Complete Read, Like, and Buy Book Missions
Some Dream missions require interaction with other players:
- Buying books
- Reading books
- Liking books
The Bookstore is located near the Simasimo area. There, you can:
- Buy books published by other players
- Read books directly from your inventory
- Like books after finishing them
These actions automatically count toward Dream mission progress.
The Dream feature in Heartopia is more than just side content. It plays a key role in character progression and provides reliable ways to earn Gold. By focusing on Puzzle and Writing Dreams right after reaching level 16, you can level up your Dream faster while gaining extra rewards along the way. Complete missions in order, stick to smaller puzzles, and start writing early to make the most of this system.
