The latest Forsaken update has completely changed how 1X1X1X1 (1X) plays. For a long time, 1X was seen as a weak and inconsistent killer because most of his power depended on landing projectiles.
Missing a skill often meant losing the chase entirely. With this huge rework, the developers clearly aimed to fix those problems by making his kit more reliable, easier to use, and more consistent across all devices.
This guide breaks down every important change, explains how the new mechanics work, and gives a clear verdict on whether 1X is finally worth using. Also check out our Forsaken Kill Sounds ID for more stuff to do.
Base Stat Changes Overview
The most noticeable base stat change is a small but meaningful movement buff.
- Walk speed increased from 8 to 8.5
- M1 attacks remain unchanged
This speed boost helps 1X stay closer to survivors during chases and reduces how often targets escape after dodging a projectile.
Mass Infection Rework Explained
Mass Infection received both nerfs and major buffs.
Damage Adjustments
- Long-range damage reduced from 35 to 30
- Close-range damage reduced from 28 to 25
- Point-blank total damage is now 55 instead of 63
New Buffs and Improvements
- Projectile speed increased by 21%
- Hitbox size increased by 10%
- Deals +10 extra damage if the survivor is affected by Glitched
- Grants a 25% speed boost for 1 second after firing
- You can now move immediately after using the skill
These changes turn Mass Infection into a strong mid-chase tool. While it no longer deals burst damage like before, it is far easier to land and much less punishing if you miss.
Entanglement Rework Breakdown
Entanglement is the most changed ability in 1X’s kit.
Core Changes
- Mini-game fully removed
- Now applies a flat 1-second stun
- Pop-ups are visual only
- Pulls survivors slightly toward 1X
- Pull strength increased by 50% if the target is Glitched
Balance Adjustments
- Helpless duration reduced from 10 to 6 seconds
- Projectile lifespan reduced from 10 seconds to 1 second
- Damage increased from 10 to 15
- Cooldown reduced from 18 to 15 seconds
- Applies Glitched for 6 seconds
- Allows slight movement while casting
This ability is no longer a long-range gamble. Instead, it works best as a close-range catch tool that stops survivors instantly and helps you close distance reliably.
Unstable Eye Changes
Unstable Eye was adjusted to focus more on short bursts of pressure.
- Speed boost changed from Speed I for 5 seconds to Speed II for 1.25 seconds
- Blindness lasts 7 seconds
- Survivors stay revealed for 8 seconds
- You can walk normally while using it
- You can sprint immediately after
A new highlight system shows survivor health through color changes, making it easier to target weak players before they heal.
Rejuvenate the Rotten Rework
This ability was completely redesigned to be used more often.
Cooldown and Usage
- Cooldown reduced from 200 seconds to 30 seconds
- Each corpse can only be used once
Minion Changes
- Health increased from 5 to 25
- No longer deal direct damage
- Apply Glitched, Poison I, and/or Reveal
- Total damage over time is 14
- Cannot kill unless the survivor is at 1 HP with Glitched
Range Adjustments
- Aggro range reduced from 30 to 24
- Aggro drop range reduced from 50 to 40
This makes minions more of a pressure and zoning tool instead of pure damage dealers.
Is 1X1X1X1 Better After the Rework?
Yes, this rework is a clear buff overall. 1X is now far more consistent and less punishing to play. His projectiles are easier to land, his chase tools are stronger, and his kit no longer relies on risky long-range plays. While some unique mechanics were removed, the trade-off is better balance across PC, console, and mobile.
Previously, 1X was often placed in B tier. With these changes, he comfortably sits in high A tier, especially in the hands of skilled players who can chain Mass Infection and Entanglement effectively.
The 1X1X1X1 rework in Forsaken shifts him from an unreliable projectile killer into a consistent pressure-focused character. While the removal of the Entanglement mini-game may disappoint some players, the overall kit is stronger, smoother, and easier to control. If you avoided 1X before, this update makes him worth revisiting, especially if you enjoy aggressive chase-heavy gameplay.
