Potions YapYap Guide, How to Unlock, Brew and Optimize!
Potion brewing in YapYap is more than just a side feature. Once enemy spawns start stacking and escapes get tighter, potions often decide whether a run survives or collapses. Knowing what to brew, what to save, and which ingredients should never be wasted is a big part of mastering the game. This guide explains how to unlock the Potions Room, how brewing works, and how to use ingredients efficiently in YapYap.
How to Unlock the Potions Room in YapYap
The Potions Room becomes available after you finish all three nights and successfully complete your first full run. Once unlocked, it stays permanently accessible in every future run, making it one of the most important rooms in the game.
Inside the Potions Room, you will find a usable cauldron, several pre-made potions, loose ingredients, and at least one wooden ladder that leads to extra loot. Early in progression, this room is extremely valuable. If you are not in immediate danger, selling the starter potions and ingredients can give you a solid gold boost, which helps fund spells or early equipment upgrades.
How Potion Brewing Works in YapYap

Brewing potions always follows the same simple process:
- First, throw the required ingredient into the green cauldron.
- Next, wait for the splash reaction that confirms the brew is ready.
- Finally, fill an empty bottle from the cauldron.
You do not need to buy bottles from the shop. Broken glass bottles scattered around the map work perfectly and should always be used instead. This saves gold and keeps your economy healthy, especially early on.
Where to Find Brewing Ingredients in YapYap
Potion ingredients are spread throughout the tower and appear naturally as you explore. Common items like carrots, feathers, mushrooms, and clovers can be found on floors, shelves, and in small hidden corners. Rarer ingredients, such as Susrooms, usually require more careful searching and exploration.
The Potions Room itself is also a reliable source of healing. The ladder inside the room always leads to at least one ready-made Vitality Potion, making it one of the safest ways to recover health if you can reach it during a run.
Using Ingredients Raw vs Brewing Potions
Some ingredients can be eaten without brewing, but this is rarely the best choice. Carrots and clovers restore small amounts of health when consumed raw, which can help in emergencies. However, normal mushrooms should almost never be eaten raw because they are essential for crafting Strength Potions, one of the most important brews for progression.
Susrooms are especially dangerous to consume without brewing. Eating them raw can trigger random negative effects, which can quickly ruin a run. Turning them into potions is always the safer and more reliable option.
Potion brewing is a core survival system in YapYap, not just a bonus mechanic. Unlocking the Potions Room early, using broken bottles instead of buying new ones, and saving key ingredients for brewing will dramatically improve your chances of surviving longer runs. If you treat potions as limited resources and plan your brews carefully, you will have a much easier time dealing with rising enemy pressure and tight escapes later in the game.
