Breaking the barrier in Roblox Abyss is one of the biggest progression steps in the game, since it unlocks access to the Lost Spirit Gun and Tube. The process can feel confusing at first because it involves multiple fishing quests and specific item requirements. Once you understand the order of the quests and what to prepare, the whole grind becomes much more manageable. Also check out Roblox Abyss Codes for more rewards.
Requirements Before Starting the Barrier Quest
Before you begin the barrier questline, you should prepare proper gear. Getting a strong tube and gun first will save a lot of time. The barrier quests require catching many high-strength fish, and weak equipment will slow you down, especially in deeper areas.
If you are still using a basic zipline tube with limited depth, upgrading is highly recommended. Better gear allows you to reach deeper zones and catch tougher fish more consistently. This setup step is important because every stage of the barrier quest involves heavy fishing. Once your gear is ready, head to the NPC near the barrier and accept the first quest.
Barrier Quest 1 – Fish and Materials List
The first quest asks you to collect:
- 3 Napoleon
- 6 Jellyfish
- 8 Pacific Fanfish
- 6 Spirit Mutated Fish
- 2 Rooted Geodes
- 3 Moss
You can identify jellyfish and fanfish easily by their shapes, while Napoleon fish are larger and more distinct. Spirit mutated fish have a transparent, ghost-like body. Using a scanner or radar helps you spot the correct targets faster.
For rooted geodes and moss, focus on opening chests while fishing. A quick trick to farm chests faster is to cancel and recast if no chest appears. Chests often contain the moss and geodes you need. Keep extra moss, since later quests require more of it.
After collecting the items, return to the NPC and accept the second quest.
Barrier Quest 2 – Increased Requirements
The second quest requires:
- 5 Sunfish
- 8 Napoleon
- 10 Jellyfish
- 6 Fairy Mutated Fish
- 5 Rooted Geodes
- 4 Moss
Sunfish are flat and easy to recognize. Fairy mutated fish glow brightly and spawn frequently, making them easier to farm than they look. Continue opening chests for geodes and moss while completing your fishing goals. Each completed quest triggers a short cutscene showing the trees around the barrier coming back to life. This is part of the story progression as you restore the area.
Final Barrier Quest – Unlocking the Barrier
The last quest is the longest and asks for:
- 6 Narwhal
- 8 Sandfish
- 12 Napoleon
- 8 Fairy Mutated Fish
- 12 Spirit Mutated Fish
- 7 Rooted Geodes
- 5 Moss
Narwhals are the only new fish to learn here. They spawn frequently in cave areas and nearby sections, so farming them is mostly about patience. Continue using your scanner to speed up identification.
After turning in this final quest, a cutscene plays where the main tree is fully restored and the barrier is destroyed. This unlocks access to the Lost Spirit Gun and Tube. Be prepared, as these items are expensive. Don’t forget to collect the chest and the hidden duck located behind the barrier area.
You should also accept Victor’s quest after finishing the barrier. It rewards a large amount of money and ancient keys, which help you obtain higher-tier chests. Keep in mind that unlocking later captain quests takes a long time because some required fish have very low spawn rates.
Breaking the barrier is a long grind, but it opens the door to some of the best equipment in Roblox Abyss. With the right preparation and a clear farming plan, you can complete each stage efficiently and move into the next phase of progression.
