Mage Excry Job Progression Guide, How to Easily Change The Best Class!
Getting the Mage class in Excry is one of the most useful early progress paths if you want strong skills and flexible combat options. The game hides part of the Mage progression behind a secret trigger, so many new players accidentally miss it. Once you know the correct order of steps, you can unlock Mage quickly and level it efficiently. Also check out our Excry Codes.
Step 1: Farm Mana Core Before Talking to NPCs

When you first spawn in Excry, do not talk to any NPC yet. Your first goal is to farm a Mana Core so you can trigger the hidden Mage progression. Head to the bridge area Marrowreach near the starting zone and farm the NPC enemies that spawn there. The fastest way to defeat them is by parrying their attacks until the exclamation mark appears, then using the beatdown combo.
This method kills enemies much faster than normal trading hits. Keep running around the bridge area to force enemies to respawn. You can also wait in place for new spawns. Continue farming until a Mana Core drops.
Step 2: Trigger the Secret Mage Progression

After getting a Mana Core, return to the first NPC and talk to him. Then go to the blacksmith, open his dialogue, and select the first option. Do not buy any weapons from the blacksmith.
Next, hold the Mana Core in your hand and talk to Arian again. This action activates the hidden Mage progression path. Once this is done, your next objective is reaching level 10.
Step 3: Reach Level 10 Quickly
To level up fast, focus on:
- Main story quests
- Side quests and missions
- Killing mobs in the open world
Defeating bosses and clearing quests gives steady experience. You will also choose your first faction during this phase. Any faction works, but make sure you earn enough cash along the way since you will need it for training.
Step 4: Unlock the Base Mage Class

At level 10, a trainer icon appears on your map. Follow it to the base class trainer and talk to the NPC. You will be teleported into a boss fight.
Defeat the boss to unlock Mage training. After winning, talk to the trainer again to purchase the passive skills:
- Mana Draw, which lets you wield weapons with Mage
- Mana Efficiency, which reduces arcane cost
These skills require cash, so complete extra missions if needed.
To equip weapons, add them to your inventory and use the equip keys to cycle through them. You can carry up to two active weapons at once. Equipping a third weapon replaces your current setup.
Step 5: Grind to Level 20 Fast
Your next goal is level 20 to unlock advanced Mage skills. The fastest grinding method is farming ogres in the open world. They give high experience and have predictable attack patterns.
Use a simple loop: parry their attack, land heavy hits, then perform a beatdown. Once you learn their timing, you can defeat ogres repeatedly with low risk and fast experience gains.
You can also run faction quests, but pure mob farming is often faster if you want quick levels.
Step 6: Advanced Mage Trainer and Boss Fight

At level 20, another trainer marker appears. Before going there, prepare at least 2,500 cash. Each skill purchase is expensive, and you will want to buy everything at once. Talk to the advanced trainer Kael in The Fleshroot Rift to enter another boss fight. This fight is similar to the first one.
If your health gets low, you can move to a safe elevated spot in the arena to regenerate before continuing. After defeating the boss, buy all available Mage skills. These unlock your full Mage moveset and significantly increase your combat power.
How to Get Arcane Scrolls
Arcane Scrolls are crafted at your faction blacksmith. Open the scroll crafting tab to see the required materials. You will need liquid mana from battles and body part materials dropped by enemies. Farm mobs regularly to gather crafting items. Once you craft Arcane Scrolls, you can expand your Mage abilities even further.
The key to fast Mage progression in Excry is following the correct order: farm Mana Core first, trigger the hidden path, rush level 10 for base Mage, then grind ogres to level 20. Saving enough cash before visiting trainers also prevents unnecessary backtracking. With this route, you can unlock the full Mage class much earlier than most players and start building a strong magic-focused character.
