Sea mines are one of the more unusual items you can buy in Abyss. At first glance, they look like a powerful tool for hunting dangerous sea creatures. Many players expect them to be a fast way to deal heavy damage to whales and other high-health enemies. In practice, sea mines work very differently, and understanding their real purpose can save you a lot of coins. This guide explains what sea mines actually do, where to get them, and whether they are worth buying. Also check out Roblox Abyss Codes for more rewards.
What Are Sea Mines in Abyss?
Sea mines are explosive traps that detonate when a target touches them. When triggered, they deal a fixed amount of damage in a small area. The key detail is that each sea mine only deals around 300 damage per explosion.
That number is very low compared to the health of strong enemies. Large creatures like dragonfish or whales can have tens of thousands of HP, so a single mine barely affects them. Even standard aggressive fish often survive the blast without much trouble.
Because of this, sea mines are not effective for farming fish or bosses. Using them to hunt creatures usually results in a coin loss, since the damage they deal does not justify their high purchase price.
Their main practical use is against other players. A sea mine can deal heavy damage to players and may instantly defeat beginners with low oxygen or weak gear. Some players also use mines to block entrances or choke points, forcing others to trigger explosions if they want to pass.
How to Get Sea Mines
Sea mines are purchased in the Ancient Sands area. To get them:
- Travel to Ancient Sands
- Run to the back area where the special shop is located
- Wait for the shop to refresh (about every 2 minutes)
- Buy a sea mine for 1,500 coins each
Stock is limited and rotates when the shop resets, so sea mines are not always available. You may need to wait through several refresh cycles to buy multiple mines.
Sea mines in Abyss are more of a novelty item than a reliable hunting tool. Their low damage makes them inefficient for killing fish or bosses, especially considering their cost. While they can be used for player traps or blocking areas, they offer little value for regular progression or coin farming. Unless you are experimenting or playing around with PvP tricks, most players are better off saving their coins for stronger weapons and upgrades.
