Kyrsan Champion Deepwoken Guide, How to Learn!
The latest update in Deepwoken has introduced the Kyrsan Champion, a tough boss found in Layer 2. This new addition from the Deep Healing update is not just challenging—it also drops exclusive items you can’t get anywhere else. From Gale and Frost Essence to the Marrowade Boots and the Kyrsan Necklace, these rewards make facing him worth the effort. This guide will walk you through reaching him, understanding his mechanics, and claiming his loot.
Getting to the Kyrsan Champion

To face the Kyrsan Champion, start by talking to Miser Robas on Floor 2. Ask him for extra power before heading into battle. Next, enter the prison area where the Lightorn NPC is located. Look for a rock in the corner of the room and climb to the top. There’s a new Purge Shrine there—activating it will spawn the Kyrsan Champion after you defeat the enraged Etheron.
Be ready for changes in Etheron’s moves. His bone attacks now spawn extra bones targeting you, all moves do more damage, and his spirit bomb comes out faster. Once Etheron is defeated, Layer 2’s escape timer increases to 7 minutes, giving you enough time to fight the Kyrsan Champion. Unlike before, you won’t face Kirstson Lancers—only the champion awaits after the Light Bridge.
Kyrsan Champion Deepwoken Mechanics Explained

The Kyrsan Champion fight happens during the collapse of Layer 2, so staying mobile is essential. Instant-kill orbs spawn and detonate around you, making constant movement critical. Another unique mechanic is the stacking slow effect—every time he hits you, your movement slows. These stacks only reset when his health drops to half or he dies. His move set is varied. Some attacks have low end lag, requiring you to defend before countering.
- Parry-only slashes and guard break slash – dodge carefully, timing is important.
- Jumpable slash and crouch/slide slash – jump then crouch to avoid damage.
- Impale attack – must be dodged.
- Sweeping slash combo – jump over the first attack and dodge the unblockable follow-up.
- Weapon twirl and ground slam – parry crystals spawned to avoid being flung into orbs.
- Ice pillars wave followed by dash – dodge the pillars, create distance for the remaining attacks.
- Large AOE slam – jump into the air to avoid damage.
- Final slashes and ice wave – crouch or dodge as needed.
At half health, all slow stacks are removed, and he can spawn an ice cage if you attack him, so consider defending to learn his patterns first.

Your main goal is to stay mobile and chip away at his health during high-end lag moves while staying defensive on low-end lag attacks. Keep track of the collapse timer to avoid being wiped out. If your focus is farming his exclusive drops, killing him solo gives better chances for rare loot compared to doing it in a group.
Once defeated, collect your rewards and exit Layer 2 safely. With the Kyrsan Champion down and new items in hand, you can prepare for the next challenges Deepwoken offers. This approach ensures you understand both the fight mechanics and the best strategies for farming Kyrsan Champion’s exclusive items, making your Layer 2 runs more efficient and rewarding.
