The latest update in 99 Nights in The Forest introduces a full Jungle Biome, and it easily stands out as one of the biggest content drops in recent months. Instead of minor balance tweaks or small additions, this patch completely expands the map with new terrain, enemies, structures, and loot mechanics. Also check out our 99 Nights in the Forest Codes for more rewards! If you’re jumping in for the first time, the jungle doesn’t immediately appear at full size.
You’ll need to expand your fire multiple times before the biome properly unlocks and reveals its full layout. Once it loads in, you’ll notice a dark green section on the map — that’s where the Jungle Biome begins. Below is a full breakdown of what’s new and how to complete the Jungle Temple event step by step.
How to Unlock the Jungle Biome
The Jungle Biome expands as you upgrade your fire:
- Gather enough fuel and upgrade the fire.
- Continue expanding until the dark green biome appears on the map.
- Explore deeper sections as the fire level increases further.
Oil Barrels are extremely useful in this update since they boost fire progress significantly. If you want faster access to jungle content, prioritize collecting and using them.
New Jungle Features
Once inside the biome, you’ll find:
- Jungle Cultists (apply poison effects)
- Warthog-type animals (new wildlife)
- Quicksand hazards
- Multiple Jungle Temples
- Dense foliage with limited visibility
- A large central temple structure
The biome feels more dangerous than earlier areas due to poison effects and tighter navigation spaces.
Jungle Temple Puzzle – Crystal Skull Keys Guide
The main objective in the Jungle Biome is activating the large central temple.
Step 1: Locate Small Jungle Temples
You must find four smaller jungle temples scattered around the biome. Inside each one:
- Defeat cultists
- Navigate traps or lower chambers
- Open the chest
- Obtain a Crystal Skull Key
Each small temple grants one key.
Step 2: Expand Fire if Needed
If you can’t find the fourth temple, you likely need to expand your fire again. The biome grows outward with each upgrade.
Step 3: Activate the Main Temple
After collecting all four Crystal Skull Keys:
- Visit the large central temple.
- Insert all four keys.
- The structure will open and reveal an underground chamber.
Inside, you’ll find:
- Large reward chest
- Forest Fragments
- Cultist Gems
- New loot drops
There’s currently no boss fight in this section, though it strongly hints at a future part two update.
New Weapon: Poison Claws
One of the most notable rewards from the jungle chest is the Poison Claws.
Why They’re Strong:
- Fast attack speed
- Applies poison damage over time
- Can be spammed rapidly
- Effective against cultists and even bears
Despite being melee, they perform surprisingly well due to stacking poison ticks. With proper movement, you can defeat stronger enemies without taking heavy damage. This weapon alone makes the Jungle Temple run worth completing.
Is There a New Boss?
While no boss appears yet after completing the temple puzzle, there are hints suggesting a future entity, possibly a panther-style jungle boss. The underground chamber and key system feel like setup for an upcoming expansion. For now, the Jungle Biome focuses on exploration, puzzle solving, and new gear progression.
The Jungle Biome update is easily one of the most impactful expansions 99 Nights in The Forest has received in a long time. From the temple key puzzle to the new Poison Claws weapon, there’s meaningful content to explore beyond simple map changes. If you haven’t expanded your fire fully yet, start gathering fuel and oil barrels. Unlock the jungle, complete the four-temple challenge, and secure the new loot before the next phase of the update arrives.
