How to Obtain Makima in Anime Vanguards Guide – Farming & Evolution!
The latest update in Anime Vanguards introduced one of the most powerful and highly anticipated units in the game: Makima. If you are planning to add her to your roster, the good news is that she is not locked behind banners or heavy RNG summons. Instead, she is obtainable through Story Legend stages. Even though the stages are considered easy, getting everything required for her full evolution and Memoria can still take time. Drop rates are not guaranteed, and you may need multiple runs before securing both the unit and her exclusive item. This guide will break down where to farm Makima, how to evolve her, what materials you need, and why she is currently considered one of the strongest units in Anime Vanguards.
Where to Get Makima in Anime Vanguards

- To unlock Makima, head to: Story Mode → Legend Stages → Latest Update Stage Tokyo Railway!
Makima drops directly from the newest Legend stage. Based on player experience, the stage difficulty is relatively low, making it ideal for macro farming. Many players simply auto-repeat the stage for one to two hours to secure the drop. She can drop early if you are lucky, but be prepared for multiple runs.
- Makima’s Memoria is obtained from: Legend Stage 2 (Tokyo Railway)
This is separate from her unit drop. Even if you get Makima early, you still need to farm Stage 2 to obtain her exclusive Memoria item. Drop time can vary significantly. Some players get it quickly, while others may need dozens of runs.
Evolution Requirements (Demon Leader Form)

To evolve Makima into her stronger form (Demon Leader), you will need:
- Coffee Cup materials (12 required)
- Green Stones
- Additional crafting materials from Legend stages
Make sure to dismantle unused materials if you are short on stones. After gathering all resources, you can evolve her into Demon Leader Control, unlocking her full potential. Do not forget to also evolve her Memoria separately.
Best Traits for Makima
For optimal performance, aim for high-tier traits such as:
- Monarch (Best overall scaling and damage potential)
- Solar (Solid alternative)
- Avoid Contagious if focusing on direct damage builds
Monarch significantly boosts her performance, and luckily it can be rolled in relatively few rerolls if you are fortunate.
Makima’s Passive Breakdown
Makima’s strength comes from her chaining system.
Chains of Control
- Units placed before Makima become “Chained” (up to 10 units).
- Each chained unit reduces her cost by 10%.
- Each chained unit increases her damage by 20%.
If you place 10 units before Makima, she gains massive damage scaling and can even reach zero placement cost.
Bleed Synergy
When chained allies are sold or deleted:
- Enemies in range receive bleed damage.
Chained allies attacking bleeding enemies can:
- Apply Wounded
- Deal bonus damage (especially Demon Hunters)
Follow-Up Passive
Every time a chained ally performs a basic attack:
- Makima triggers a follow-up attack (2% of her damage)
- Applies 50% slow for 5 seconds
This creates near-permanent slow uptime on enemies.
Memoria Effects
Makima’s Memoria provides:
- Bleed application (5% damage over 8 seconds)
- Damage increases when Demon Hunter allies are chained
- Bonus damage synergy with Demon Hybrid units (notably Denji)
If you plan to maximize her kit, pairing her with Denji significantly improves her output.
Damage Showcase and Ability
At max level (with proper setup):
- ~1,000,000+ base damage
- 7 second SPA
- Can exceed 3,000,000 damage with full chains
Active Ability
- Deletes a random chained ally
- Deals 1,000% damage to the strongest enemy in range
- 20 second cooldown
This ability is extremely strong for boss fights. Even though it only targets the strongest enemy within range, the damage scaling makes it one of the highest burst abilities in the game.
Best Placement Strategy
To maximize Makima:
- Place up to 10 filler units first.
- Place Makima last.
- Upgrade her fully.
- Use ability strategically during boss waves.
Never place her first, or you lose her chain scaling potential.
If you are serious about endgame content or boss raids, farming Makima is absolutely worth your time. The stages are manageable, and with consistent farming, you will eventually secure both her unit and Memoria. If you are looking for a top-tier DPS with scaling mechanics that reward smart placement, Makima should be your next target in Anime Vanguards.
