Resident Evil Requiem features multiple endings that depend on a single decision near the final chapter of the game. The outcome you choose will determine Leon’s fate, whether you face the final boss, and how the story concludes. While one ending clearly feels like the intended route, the game still allows players to experience both paths. If you are aiming to unlock every scene and understand the full story, it’s important to know exactly when this choice appears and what each option leads to. Below is a complete breakdown of how both endings work in Resident Evil Requiem.

WARNING: Major story spoilers ahead.

When the Final Choice Appears

Resident Evil Requiem Endings Guide, How to Unlock the Good and Bad Ending!

Near the end of the game, Grace and Leon reach a computer terminal inside the ARK facility. At this point, the system asks you to decide what to do with Elpis, the mysterious substance that has driven the entire plot. You will be given two options:

  • Release Elpis
  • Destroy Elpis

This moment happens after Grace uncovers hidden video recordings revealing that Ozwell Spencer, the founder of Umbrella Corporation, originally created Elpis as a cure rather than a weapon. Your decision here directly changes the ending sequence.

1. Release Elpis Ending (Good Ending)

Choosing to release Elpis leads to what is considered the true ending of Resident Evil Requiem.

Elpis is revealed to be an antiviral treatment developed by Spencer before his death. Instead of enhancing biological weapons, it was meant to cure infections such as the T-virus.

Zeno, a member of The Connections, believes Elpis will increase his strength. He injects himself immediately, expecting more power. Instead, the serum removes his enhanced abilities. Shortly after, Victor Gideon appears and eliminates Zeno.

Grace uses Elpis to cure Leon’s infection just before the final confrontation. Victor then mutates into a massive bio-weapon form that resembles Nemesis from Resident Evil 3. The boss fight has two phases and requires targeting weak spots while avoiding heavy attacks.

After defeating Victor, the ARK facility begins collapsing. Just when escape seems impossible, a BSAA rescue team arrives and extracts Leon and Grace. In the closing scenes, Leon contacts Sherry Birkin and mentions he has a dose of Elpis for her. There is also a hint that Emily may still be alive, as Leon avoided fatal shots earlier in the story.

This ending unlocks bonus content and is considered canon.

2. Destroy Elpis Ending (Bad Ending)

Selecting Destroy Elpis results in a much shorter and darker conclusion.

The ARK facility starts collapsing immediately after the choice is made. Leon helps Grace reach safety, but Zeno retains his enhanced powers in this version. He quickly defeats Leon and shoots him, killing him on the spot.

Grace manages to escape using an elevator and is rescued at the surface. The story ends abruptly without additional explanations or extended scenes.

After this ending, the game allows players to reload and choose the alternative option, making it clear that this path is not the intended conclusion.

If your goal is to experience the full story, fight the final boss, and unlock all bonus content, you should select Release Elpis. This path provides the complete narrative payoff and sets up future story possibilities. The Destroy Elpis route exists mainly for players who want to see every possible outcome. It offers a darker alternative but lacks the extended content found in the main ending. For completionists, it’s worth watching both. For everyone else, the choice is straightforward.
