The newest update in Catch a Monster brings many fresh mechanics that change how players collect monsters and progress in the game. Update 0.20 adds a new event system, several monsters, and a new evolution path for Hydrobit. Players can now explore Spirit Grove rifts, complete daily tasks, and earn rewards through the event shop.
Besides the new monsters and evolutions, this update also introduces helpful quality-of-life features. Rift Event Guide
The Rift Event is one of the main additions in this update. Players can earn a special currency called Rift Tokens by completing rifts and finishing event tasks.
How to Earn Rift Tokens
You can collect tokens by doing several activities:
- Completing rifts
- Finishing daily missions
- Participating in event objectives
Daily tasks may include:
- Fusing pets
- Defeating monsters
- Obtaining gear
Rewards from daily tasks include:
- 4 tasks completed – Free gear chest
- 6 tasks completed – Two new rifts
These tasks reset daily, so players can repeat them to farm more tokens.
Rift Event Shop Rewards
Rift Tokens can be spent in the event shop for different items. Some rewards include:
- Eggs
- Rift entries
- Chaos potions
- Reversion potions
- Evolution boxes
- Arcane Spark Stones
- Hatch potions
One of the best items in the shop is the Agite Power Orb, a mythical gear piece.
Agite Power Orb effects:
- Increases monster HP by 24%
- Includes strong bonus stats
However, it costs 40,000 Rift Tokens, which makes it one of the most expensive rewards in the event.
Players who want faster progress can also buy Rift Tokens using Robux.
Hydrobit Evolutions Guide
Hydrobit received several new evolution options in this update.
1. Flory Rabbit Evolution (Grass)
To guarantee this evolution:
- Use 1 Raw Grass Stone
This will directly evolve Hydrobit into the grass version.
2. Mudbit Evolution (Ground)
To obtain the ground evolution:
- Use several Ground Gems
This evolution is not guaranteed, but the chances are fairly high.
3. Hydrolopee Secret Evolution
The secret evolution is called Hydrolopee.
Steps to get it:
- Use Enhanced Water Gems only
This gives roughly a 25% chance to obtain Hydrolopee.
Because the chance is not guaranteed, players may need several attempts.
New Monsters in the Update
The monster index now includes 108 total monsters after the update. New monsters added include:
- Cyber – Found in new rifts
- Thunderjet – Also appears inside rifts
- Hydrolopee – Secret Hydrobit evolution
Rift battles may also include Cobalt Wing, which is one of the enemies you must defeat during the event.
Spirit Grove Rift Monsters
Inside the new rifts, players can fight powerful enemies and possibly capture rare monsters. Rift enemies include:
- Cobalt Wing – around 3.8 billion HP
- Cyber – around 14.68 billion HP
Cyber is the strongest enemy in the rift, but players with strong teams should still be able to defeat it. There is also a chance to receive a Rift Egg as a reward.
Skyard Isle New Features
Several new changes were added to Skyard Isle.
Monster Ranch (Pet Storage)
Players can now store unused pets at the Monster Ranch.
Key details:
- Storage limit: 80 pets
- Useful for saving monsters you don’t currently use
Fortune Gear Hall
The new Fortune Gear Hall building is where players roll for gear.
Important notes:
- Gear system remains the same
- Legendary pity system still exists
- No new gear attributes were added
Other Update Changes
The update also includes several smaller improvements:
- Flying mount price reduced to 1,000 gems
- Arcane Spark Stones reduced from 900 to 800 gems
- Some pets require fewer materials to fuse
- Blood mutations can now appear from eggs during Blood Moon
These changes make progression slightly easier for most players.
