Catch a Monster Update Guide – New Island, Monsters, Boss, and Events Explained

Catch a Monster continues to expand with a massive update that introduces a brand-new island, several monsters, a powerful boss encounter, and a limited-time event with exclusive rewards. This update also adds multiple quality-of-life improvements that make grinding and team management easier for players.

The biggest highlight is the new Dragon’s Breath island, which brings stronger enemies and a challenging boss that many players will struggle to defeat alone. Alongside that, the Dino Track Hunt event, new evolutions, and several new pity systems have been added to improve progression.

This guide explains everything included in the update, including the new monsters, event rewards, boss mechanics, and additional gameplay features. Also check out our Catch a Monster Codes for more rewards!

New Island: Dragon’s Breath

The most noticeable addition in this update is the Dragon’s Breath island, which introduces new monsters and a high-level boss fight. How to Reach Dragon’s Breath To travel to the new island:

  1. Start from Starter Island.
  2. Look toward the dock area on the right side.
  3. You should see Dragon’s Breath in the distance.
  4. Use any flying mount to travel there.

Flying mounts are required to explore certain parts of the island, so players without one should unlock or obtain a flying mount before visiting.

New Monsters on Dragon’s Breath

The island includes four new monsters, including the boss. Each one offers higher XP rewards than many previous enemies.

1. Nox Crow

Nox Crow is the lowest-tier monster on the island.

  • Reward: 895 million XP
  • Easier to defeat compared to the other monsters
  • Good starting target when entering Dragon’s Breath

Although it is the weakest enemy on the island, it still provides solid XP for progression.

2. Verdysaur

Verdysaur is the second monster found on the island.

  • Reward: 1.28 billion XP
  • Multiple spawns appear very close together

This location is actually one of the best farming spots in the update. Because several Verdysaur monsters spawn near each other, players can easily AFK grind by standing in one area and repeatedly defeating them.

3. Nivisgon

The third monster on the island offers even greater rewards.

  • Damage or XP value around 1.84 billion
  • Located further up the island

These monsters are significantly stronger than earlier enemies and are meant for players with more developed teams.

New Dragon’s Breath Boss – Dracospike

At the top of the island you will find a large castle structure. This location is where the new boss Dracospike appears.

Boss Spawn Location

  1. Use a flying mount to reach the castle.
  2. Travel to the top of the structure.
  3. The boss spawns at the peak.

Boss Spawn Timer

Like other bosses in the game, the Dragon’s Breath boss appears every 15 minutes.

Difficulty

This boss is extremely powerful. Many players will struggle to defeat it alone unless they have a highly optimized team. Even strong teams may only reduce the boss to half health before being defeated. Because of this, group fights or stronger monsters are recommended.

Boss Drops

The boss drops a boss egg, which may contain powerful rewards.

Dino Track Hunt Event

Another major addition in the update is the Dino Track Hunt event. This limited-time event allows players to collect Dino Coins, which can be used to obtain special rewards. Dino Coins drop from:

  • Defeating any monsters in the game

These coins can then be used in the event reward system.

Event Rewards

The event includes three different reward tiers.

Grand Prizes (1% Chance)

The rarest rewards in the event include:

  • Solar Ring Ball
  • Mythical Gear Chest
  • Shiny Dustwing Egg

The Shiny Dustwing Egg guarantees a 100% shiny monster, making it one of the most valuable rewards available. The Solar Ring Ball is also extremely useful because it provides:

  • 2.5% cash chance
  • +35% rank luck

Second Prize Rewards (20% Chance)

These items are moderately rare and still valuable for progression.

Third Prize Rewards (79% Chance)

These are the most common rewards. Players will receive these frequently when rolling.

Event Pity System

To improve the reward system, the event now includes a pity mechanic. After 150 rolls, players are guaranteed to receive one grand prize reward. This ensures that players eventually receive a top-tier reward even if they are unlucky during early rolls.

Event Exchange Shop

Players can also obtain Dino Coins by exchanging certain items. Available exchanges include:

  • Blossom Eggs → 200 Dino Coins
  • Coral Eggs → 200 Dino Coins
  • Frostworm Eggs → 200 Dino Coins
  • Refined Fire Gems → 200 Dino Coins

This system allows players to convert unused resources into event currency.

Robux purchases are also available for players who want to obtain additional coins quickly.

Boss Drop Changes

One of the most helpful changes in the update is the improvement to boss drop rates. Previously, evolution and fusion items did not always drop from bosses. Now, bosses have a 100% guaranteed drop rate for:

  • Evolution items
  • Fusion items

This change significantly reduces the grind required to evolve monsters.

Dustwing Evolution Added

Dustwing now has a brand-new evolution path. To evolve Dustwing, players need Draco Spike Skulls, which are obtained by defeating the new Dragon’s Breath boss.

Evolution Requirements

  • 18 Draco Spike Skulls

Dustwing now has five evolution options, with Scythe Wing being the most powerful version. To increase the chance of evolving into the best form, players should use:

  • One of each gem type
  • Several Refined Ground Gems

Even with optimal materials, the success rate may only be around 18%, so multiple attempts may be required.

New Evolution Pity System

Another major improvement is the addition of a pity system for monster evolutions. This system increases the chances of obtaining rare evolution outcomes after repeated attempts, helping reduce bad luck during evolution attempts.

Mythical Gear Pity System

A pity system has also been added for pet gear rolls. The new guarantees include:

  • Legendary gear guaranteed every 100 rolls
  • Mythical gear guaranteed every 2500 rolls

However, rolling gear can be expensive since 10 rolls cost 30,000 coins, meaning reaching the mythical guarantee requires a significant investment.

Pet Team Saving Feature

The update introduces a new team save system that allows players to store multiple pet teams.

Players can now:

  1. Create a team
  2. Save it
  3. Load it instantly later

This makes switching between:

  • Boss fighting teams
  • Leveling teams
  • Farming teams

much faster than manually selecting pets each time.

The newest Catch a Monster update introduces a large amount of content, including the Dragon’s Breath island, new monsters, and a powerful boss that will challenge even experienced players. The addition of the Dino Track Hunt event also provides new rewards, including shiny eggs and powerful gear items.

Beyond new content, the update improves the overall gameplay experience through better drop rates, multiple pity systems, and the ability to save pet teams. These features reduce grinding and make managing your monsters far easier. For players who cannot defeat the new boss yet, the best strategy is to continue leveling monsters, farming XP on the new island, and preparing stronger teams before attempting the fight again.
