Combat in Cursed Gear revolves around two major systems: Cursed Techniques and Sorcerer Clans. Techniques define your abilities in battle, while clans provide passive bonuses that affect how your character performs. Some techniques focus on raw damage, while others provide mobility, stealth, or special mechanics that can completely change the flow of a fight.

Understanding how these systems work is important if you want to build a strong character. This guide explains the rarity system for techniques, highlights several notable abilities, and breaks down how the clan system works.

Cursed Technique Rarity System

Cursed Techniques are divided into multiple rarity tiers. Each tier determines how likely it is for players to obtain the technique. Technique rarity rates:

  • Common – 63%
  • Rare – 25%
  • Unique – 10%
  • Royal – 1%

Higher rarity techniques usually have more complex abilities or powerful passives. However, many common techniques can still be strong depending on how they are used.

Common Cursed Techniques (63%)

Common techniques are the most frequently obtained abilities. While easier to get, many of them still provide useful combat tools.

  • Moth Flames focuses on fire-based attacks and passive summons. R Skill: Fires a flame projectile that explodes when it hits an enemy. Passive: Whenever you land a Curse Flash using a different move, two moths appear and attack the opponent. This technique works well for players who want additional damage sources during combos.
  • Ball of Doom turns the user into a spinning damage zone. R Skill: The player spins while surrounded by a damaging ball. Enemies who touch the ball are knocked back and stunned. Each hit slightly increases the duration of the ball. Targets eventually gain immunity to prevent infinite stun loops. This ability can trap enemies against walls and deal heavy damage in tight spaces.
  • Yang focuses on summoning weapons. Abilities: Passive: The user wields a glowing yellow sword. R Skill: Summons three floating swords behind the player. Pressing R again causes them to slash forward before disappearing. This technique is simple but effective for quick bursts of damage.
  • Sun Breather revolves around burn damage and sunlight bonuses. Abilities: Burned-out energy regenerates when standing in sunlight. Black Flash attacks apply burn damage over time. Holding E + R allows the user to breathe flames that apply burn damage. This technique works well in open areas where sunlight effects can trigger.
  • Shadow Realm allows temporary crowd control. Abilities: R Skill: Creates a portal under an enemy that pulls them into the shadow realm. While trapped, the user’s cursed energy slowly drains. Pressing R again releases the target. This move can isolate enemies during PvP fights.
  • Starlink is designed for cooperative combat. Abilities: R Skill: Links you with an ally. Y Skill: Summons an astral figure that slams the ground and stuns enemies. When linked, both players trigger the slam attack.

This technique is especially strong in team battles.

Rare Cursed Techniques (25%)

Rare techniques appear less frequently and usually offer more unique mechanics.

  • Fresh Cut Uses scissors to attack enemies. Allows players to cut or change another player’s hair. Forced haircuts during expeditions remain for two days.
  • Medium Summons a ghost companion as a cosmetic effect. R ability sends an apparition that explodes and briefly stuns enemies. Y ability acts as a counter that can negate damage.
  • Vampirism A powerful regeneration-based technique. Access to Reverse Cursed Technique healing. Ability to regenerate limbs. Blood beam attack and shadow dash movement.

However, the user becomes weaker in sunlight and cannot use abilities while exposed to it.

Unique Cursed Techniques (10%)

Unique techniques are harder to obtain and often introduce special gameplay mechanics. Examples include:

  • Damocles Marks an opponent with a tag that punishes specific actions. If the opponent repeats the marked action, a sword falls from the sky and forces them to kneel.
  • Tremor Creates seismic shockwaves that knock enemies back. Channeling cursed energy can cause nearby players’ screens to crack as a warning.

These techniques often require skillful timing and positioning.

Royal Cursed Techniques (1%)

Royal techniques are extremely rare and usually have powerful effects.

  • Gravity Allows the user to manipulate gravitational forces during combat.
  • Ice Focuses on freezing attacks and control abilities.
  • The Hunter A stealth-based technique. Abilities include: Silencer Passive: The user makes no sound when moving. Ghost Mode (E + R): Grants temporary invisibility and invulnerability. Ghost Blitz: Sends a clone to attack enemies while the user briefly disappears.

This technique is ideal for ambush-style gameplay.

Sorcerer Clan System

In addition to techniques, every character belongs to a Sorcerer Clan. Clans provide passive bonuses that affect gameplay. Clan rarity is divided into the following tiers:

  • Common – 66%
  • Rare – 25%
  • Unique – 8%
  • Royal – 1%
  • Heavenly Restriction – 1%

Common Clans

Common clans are the easiest to obtain. All of them share the same bonus.

  • Fushiguro, Kurusu, Higuruma, Takaba, Nanami, Inumaki, Okkotsu, Kugisaki, and many others. Common clan bonus: 25% increased EXP gain.

Rare Clans

Rare clans provide specific combat bonuses.

  • Yoshino Landing an M1 attack grants +5 movement speed for seven seconds.
  • Hazenoki Sword attacks deal 10% more damage but take extra posture damage.
  • Crow Devastating Strike ignores the normal damage cap.

Unique Clans

Unique clans offer stronger bonuses.

  • Itadori Landing attacks without taking damage builds Flow stacks. At seven stacks, the next attack guarantees a True Black Flash.
  • Todo The character becomes larger and gains bonuses to Physicality and Durability.
  • Panda Provides passive damage reduction and healing during expeditions.

Royal Clans

Royal clans are extremely rare and provide powerful bonuses.

  • Gojo Start with extra technique points and gain higher cursed energy regeneration.
  • Zenin Deal increased damage to non-royal clans but take slightly more damage from royal clans.
  • Kamo Basic attacks provide lifesteal based on maximum HP.

Heavenly Restriction

Heavenly Restriction is a special modifier that can appear alongside a clan. There is a 1% chance to obtain it when rolling a clan. If you reroll your clan later, the Heavenly Restriction will disappear unless it is rolled again.

Cursed Techniques and Sorcerer Clans play a major role in shaping your character build in Cursed Gear. Techniques determine your combat style, while clans provide passive bonuses that can boost damage, mobility, or survivability. Since techniques and clans rely heavily on luck when rolling, players often experiment with different combinations until they find a build that fits their playstyle. Understanding how each rarity tier works will help you decide whether to keep your current setup or reroll for something stronger.
