Emblem and Ailment Guide in Jujutsu Zero
The latest update in Jujutsu Zero introduces a brand-new system that can significantly increase your overall damage. This feature is called the Emblem System, and it works together with a mechanic known as Ailments.
Unlike regular gear upgrades, emblems function as an additional equipment slot that can give extra stats and special effects during combat. When combined with the right ailment, this system can greatly improve your damage output in raids, boss fights, and investigation runs.
If you want to maximize your build after the update, understanding how emblems and ailments work is extremely important. Here is a complete breakdown of how to unlock them, how to get them, and which ailments are currently the strongest.
How to Unlock the Emblem Slot
Before using emblems, you must first unlock the fourth gear slot designed specifically for emblems. To unlock it:
- Go to the Investigation Shop
- Purchase the slot for 2500 Cursed Crystals
Cursed Crystals are obtained from Investigation Mode, which means this system is directly tied to investigation progression. Once unlocked, you can equip one emblem at a time. This is not a full gear set system. Instead, it acts as a single extra gear piece that adds stats and allows you to attach an ailment.
How to Get Emblems

Emblems drop from Edo Crates, which are also obtained in Investigation Mode. Currently there are two types of emblems:
1. Edo Emblem I
- Drop rate: around 3.14%
- Rolls 4 random stats
2. Edo Emblem II
- Drop rate: around 1.05%
- Rolls 3 random stats
Each emblem comes with random stat rolls, including:
- Attack
- HP
- Crit Rate
- Other combat bonuses
Because the stats are randomized, two players with the same emblem may have completely different builds. This makes farming multiple emblems worthwhile as you search for the best stat combination.
A good Edo Emblem II with Attack or Attack % is usually considered the best starting option for damage-focused builds.
How Ailments Work
Once you obtain a strong emblem, you can apply an Ailment to it. Ailments add special effects that have a chance to trigger when you hit enemies. Each ailment has a different effect, trigger rate, and damage type. To apply a Grade 1 Ailment, talk to the Ailment NPC near spawn.
Grade 1 Ailments

Burn
Burn is applied using a Flame Fragment, which drops from crates with about a 0.5% chance.
Effect:
- 7.5% chance to trigger
- Deals 5 damage ticks
Testing shows each tick can deal roughly 730K damage on Super Crit, totaling around 3.65 million damage if all ticks land.
Burn is very strong in:
- Raid farming
- Infinity Raid
- Long boss fights
Because of the repeated damage ticks.
Freeze
Freeze requires a Snowflake item, also found in Edo Crates with roughly a 0.5% drop rate.
Effect:
- Applies damage ticks
- Stuns enemies
Each tick deals around 450K damage, totaling roughly 2.1 million damage.
While weaker than Burn in raw damage, Freeze is valuable because it provides crowd control through stuns.
Special Grade Ailments
Special ailments are stronger and require visiting the Ailment NPC in Tomb of the Stars.
In this area, you can also find the Gear Reroll NPC, which allows you to reroll stat values using Lucky Dice.
Important note: rerolling changes the value of a stat, not the stat itself. This means if your emblem already has good stats, you can improve their strength without replacing the emblem.
Electrocute
Electrocute is applied using Thunderbolt, which drops from Lightning Crates with around 0.09% drop rate.
Lightning Crates are obtained from the Awakened Kashimo Raid.
Effect:
- 7.3% trigger chance
- Deals 5 damage ticks
Each tick can deal about 1 million damage, reaching 5 million total damage.
This makes Electrocute one of the strongest raw damage ailments in the game.
Chained
Chained requires Cursed Chains, which drop from Edo Crates with around a 0.6% chance.
Effect:
- 8.6% trigger chance
- Instantly breaks the enemy toughness bar
- Stuns the enemy
- Allows 1–5x increased damage
This ailment focuses on team damage rather than personal damage, making it very powerful during group raids.
Bleed
Bleed requires Blood Residue, also found in Edo Crates with about 0.6% drop rate.
Effect:
- 6.3% trigger chance
- Deals 5% of the enemy’s max HP
- Adds 4 extra damage ticks
Example damage test:
- 5% HP damage on a 100M HP boss = 5M damage
- Additional 1.9M tick damage
This makes Bleed extremely strong against high HP bosses.
The new emblem system in Jujutsu Zero adds an important layer of customization for players who want to push their damage further. With the addition of random stats and powerful ailments, builds can now be optimized depending on the type of content you are farming.
By unlocking the emblem slot, farming Edo crates, and choosing the right ailment, players can gain a major advantage in raids and boss fights. If you are already running Investigation Mode regularly, investing time into this system is one of the best ways to improve your overall power in the current update.
