Starting out in Pet Fighters can feel confusing for new players. The game introduces many systems early on, such as catching pets, upgrading weapons, and exploring new areas. If you simply follow the tutorial and wander around the map, progress can feel slow.
However, once you understand the basics of progression, leveling up and getting stronger pets becomes much easier. This guide explains the most important things beginners should know in order to progress faster in Pet Fighters.
1. Finish the Tutorial First
When you first enter the game, you will go through a tutorial that explains the core mechanics. After finishing it, you will unlock a few starting locations, including Starter Island and Shoreline Harbor.
Each area has a level range. For example:
- Starter Island: Level 1–2
- Shoreline Harbor: Level 2–4
This is important because you can only equip pets that are your level or lower. If your character is level 4, you will not be able to equip a level 5 pet yet.
Because of this, always pay attention to the level of the pets you catch.
2. Always Check Pet Damage
As you catch more pets, your inventory will start filling up quickly. Instead of using random pets, open your inventory and sort them by damage.
Pets with the highest damage will appear at the top of the list. These are usually the ones you should equip.
For example, some pets like Floaty Pig only deal very low damage, so they are not very useful once you start finding stronger creatures.
3. Claim Free Rewards Often
Another easy way to get extra resources is by claiming rewards from the Rewards menu near the spawn area.
These rewards can include things like:
- Coins
- Items
- Useful bonuses
Even though they are small, claiming them regularly can help you progress faster without grinding too much.
4. Learn the Pet Type System
Each pet in the game has a specific type, and different types deal different amounts of damage to other types. Some examples of pet types include:
- Water
- Pixie
- Basic
- Metal
- Earth
Certain types deal extra damage to specific enemies while dealing less damage to others. For example, a Metal type pet may deal double damage to some enemies but reduced damage to magic-type creatures. This system becomes more important later in the game when enemies become stronger.
5. Upgrade Your Weapon at the Gunsmith
After completing several early quests, you will have enough money to buy a better weapon. The tutorial usually makes you purchase a pistol, but it is a good idea to upgrade as soon as possible.
One of the best early choices is the Assault Rifle. Even though the pistol deals slightly higher damage per shot, the assault rifle has a much faster fire rate, which results in higher overall damage.
6. Use the Crafting Station to Improve Weapons
Weapons can also be upgraded at the Crafting Station.
To upgrade a weapon, you will need materials such as:
- Pearls
- Ores
- Energy Orbs
These materials can be found while exploring or defeating creatures. Upgrading your weapon makes fights easier and helps you defeat stronger enemies faster.
7. Buy Diving Gear at Level 4
Once you reach level 4, you can buy Diving Gear. This item allows you to swim underwater safely.
While underwater, you will have around 20 seconds of oxygen, so make sure to return to the surface before it runs out.
Underwater areas contain:
- New pets
- Crafting materials
- Extra items
It is a good idea to collect everything you see since many materials are useful later in the game.
8. Use Fishing to Get Additional Pets
Another method of obtaining pets is through fishing.
By talking to certain NPCs, you can receive a Fishing Rod. This allows you to fish in water areas and sometimes catch pets instead of regular items.
Some fish-type pets can deal higher damage than early land creatures, making fishing a helpful method for beginners.
9. Heal and Revive Pets at the Fountain
When fighting enemies, your pets will automatically help attack them. However, pets also have their own health bars. If their health drops to zero, they will become fainted and stop fighting. To restore them, simply go to a Fountain. Jumping into the fountain will:
- Heal all pets
- Revive fainted pets
This is the fastest way to recover your team before continuing your adventure.
10. Use Pet Radar to Find Rare Creatures
Later in the game, you can buy useful tools from item shops, including:
- Pet Radar
- Binoculars
- Metal Detector
The Pet Radar is especially useful because it shows the location of nearby pets on the map. Rare pets may appear with different colors, helping you track them more easily.
Using this tool can help you find stronger pets much faster.
11. Check the Index for Pet Information
The game also includes an Index feature where you can see detailed information about pets you have already captured. Inside the Index you can check:
- Spawn chances
- Day or night spawn time
- Pet type
- Base damage
- Base health
This information can help you locate specific pets and understand which ones are worth farming.
Progressing in Pet Fighters becomes much easier once you understand how the main systems work. Focus on catching pets with high damage, upgrading your weapons early, and completing quests whenever possible. Exploring underwater areas, fishing for pets, and using tools like the pet radar can also help you find stronger creatures quickly. By following these beginner tips, you will be able to level up faster and unlock new islands without struggling in the early game.
