Anime Overload is getting a big update, and this one adds several major features that will change how players farm and build their teams. The upcoming patch introduces the Monarch Dungeon, a new Excavation mode, and multiple new units inspired by Solo Leveling.
Because the new content is expected to be difficult, preparing early will make a huge difference once the update goes live. This guide explains how the Monarch Dungeon works, what the Excavation mode does, which units may appear in the update, and how you should prepare your team before the update releases.
Monarch Dungeon Explained
The main highlight of the update is the Monarch Dungeon, a new raid-style mode that includes several unique mechanics. Unlike normal stages, this dungeon contains four trials that players must complete while defending against enemies.
One important thing to know is that the map only has one path, which makes unit placement easier. However, the mechanics inside the dungeon make the mode much harder than normal stages.
Trial 1 – Kneeling Mechanic
The first trial introduces a mechanic where players must kneel every 40 seconds.
If you fail to kneel in time, your character will become stunned for 10 seconds. During this time, you cannot place units, move, or perform any actions. Because of this system, players cannot easily automate or macro this raid.
Trial 2 – Musical Statues
During waves 3 to 10, the dungeon introduces several musical statues around the map.
To calm these statues, players must:
- Place a hero near each statue
- Donate the required Yin currency
Once all statues are satisfied, the Ruler Statue will stop attacking players with laser attacks. If the statues are ignored, the laser attacks will occur more frequently as the waves increase.
Trial 3 – Attacker Statues
In the third trial, Attacker Statues begin spawning at the start of each wave.
These statues will chase your units. If they reach them, the affected unit will be force-sold, and its Yin will be refunded.
To deal with this mechanic effectively:
- Prioritize statue targets
- Focus your damage on statues first
- Avoid spreading your units across the map
Trial 4 – Final Boss Fight
The final trial begins when the Ruler Statue becomes the final boss.
At this stage:
- The boss uses laser attacks again
- The dungeon becomes significantly harder
- Any remaining statues will make the fight even more difficult
Because of this, players should try to destroy all attacker statues before wave 20 to avoid being overwhelmed.
Best Strategy for Monarch Dungeon
A simple strategy many players recommend is placing all units at the front of the map.
This works because:
- Units focus their damage on one target
- Attacker statues are targeted immediately
- Your damage stays concentrated
Avoid placing units too far apart because spreading them reduces damage output.
Also, some units may not perform well here. Air units or characters that require special placement may not be useful due to the map layout.
New Units Coming in the Update
The update is expected to introduce four new units. While the exact list has not been officially confirmed, many players expect characters from the Solo Leveling series.
Possible units include:
- Sung Jinwoo
- Cha Hae-In
- Igris
- Baek Yoonho
Some of these units may appear as Secret units, which means they could require special grinding or high pity to obtain.
Excavation Mode Explained
Another feature arriving in the update is the Excavation game mode.
In this mode, players must:
- Place an Extractor on the map
- Defeat enemies nearby
- Collect batteries dropped by enemies
- Deliver the batteries to the extractor
Once the extractor finishes its process, players can choose a reward.
Possible rewards include:
- Trait rerolls
- Star crafting materials
- Stat cubes
- Stat seals
This mode is mainly designed for resource farming, making it a good option for players who want to improve their units faster.
How to Prepare for the Update
Because the Monarch Dungeon is expected to be extremely difficult, preparing your team early will make the grind much easier.
1. Upgrade Your Units
Make sure your main units are:
- Level 100
- Fully evolved
- Equipped with strong traits
Traits like Overload can significantly increase your damage output.
2. Use Strong Meta Units
Several units currently perform well and are recommended for the upcoming raid.
Some good options include:
- Crimson Queen
- Sukuna
- Bothiro
- Shanks
These units provide strong damage and can help deal with statues quickly.
3. Play With Friends
The Monarch Dungeon becomes much easier with a group.
Playing with teammates allows players to:
- Split responsibilities
- Handle statues faster
- Maintain better damage coverage
Solo runs may be possible, but they will be significantly harder.
The upcoming Anime Overload update looks like one of the biggest patches so far. With the addition of Monarch Dungeon, Excavation mode, and several new units, players will have plenty of new content to explore.
However, the new dungeon appears to be one of the toughest challenges in the game. Upgrading your units, preparing strong traits, and teaming up with friends will make the experience much smoother. If you start preparing now, you will be ready to farm the Monarch Dungeon and unlock the new rewards as soon as the update arrives.
