Update 0.5 finally arrived in Anime Overload, and it introduced several new units along with balance changes that slightly shifted the current meta. With the addition of the Double Dungeon and new raid rewards, players now have more ways to farm powerful characters and evolve materials. Because of these changes, some units became stronger picks for progression, while others fell slightly behind compared to the new releases.
If you are trying to decide which characters are worth grinding for, this tier guide will help you understand the best and worst units currently available. Some characters are excellent for beginners, while others shine more in late-game raids or boss fights. Also check out our Anime Overload Codes for more rewards!
Top Meta Units in Anime Overload 0.5
These characters currently perform the best in most game modes and are commonly used in meta teams.
Sung Jin Woo
Sung Jin Woo is currently one of the strongest units in the game. Even without his full potential unlocked yet, he already performs extremely well thanks to his summon abilities.
Another reason why he is considered top tier is his future potential. His passive hints that Igris, his soldier, will be added later. Once that happens, his power could increase even more. Because of this, many players recommend farming Sung Jin Woo early.
Saitama
Saitama remains one of the strongest DPS characters in the game. His full AoE attacks make grinding stages much easier compared to units that only hit a small area.
He also deals excellent damage to bosses, which makes him useful in both farming and raid content.
Crimson Queen
Crimson Queen continues to be a reliable damage dealer. She fits well into many team compositions and performs well in most game modes.
Cha Hae-In (New Unit)
Cha Hae-In is one of the best new characters introduced in Update 0.5. She has strong buffs and can perform extremely well when placed in the right team setup.
Many players consider her one of the best units released in this update.
Choi (New Unit)
Choi quickly became part of the meta because of his burn damage effect. The recent balance changes made burn mechanics much stronger, allowing him to deal consistent damage over time.
His evolution materials can be obtained from the Double Dungeon raid, so players should prioritize farming that mode.
Strong Units That Are Still Worth Using
These characters are still powerful but may not be as dominant as the top meta units.
Law
Law is one of the best beginner units in the game. He is easy to obtain and can be used in almost every game mode.
His full AoE attacks make early progression much smoother, which is why many players recommend getting him first.
Gojo
Gojo remains extremely useful because he can ignore shields, which is very helpful in certain stages and boss fights.
Mob
Mob can deal very high damage when multiple debuffs are present. His ability to absorb debuffs and turn them into buffs makes him strong in specific situations.
Beak (New Unit)
Beak is another solid addition to the roster. He performs well as a damage dealer but does not quite reach the same level as the top tier units.
Units That Need Buffs
Some characters still work well but are slightly weaker compared to the new meta options.
Denji (Chainsaw Man)
Denji has good attack speed and scaling, but his base damage is quite low. If the developers increase his base stats in future updates, he could easily move higher in the tier list.
Susano
Susano is still useful as a support character, but he did not receive major improvements in this update.
Best Team Setup in Update 0.5
If you want to build a strong meta team right now, this setup works extremely well:
- Sung Jin Woo
- Saitama
- Crimson Queen
- Cha Hae-In
- Choi
You can then add one or two farm units depending on the stage you are running.
Law is also a great optional unit because he can slow enemies while dealing AoE damage.
Anime Overload Update 0.5 added several interesting characters that changed the current meta. Units like Sung Jin Woo, Cha Hae-In, and Choi quickly became some of the strongest options in the game, while older characters such as Saitama and Law remain very reliable for progression.
If you are planning to farm new characters, Sung Jin Woo should be a top priority because of his current strength and future potential. With more updates coming soon, the tier list will likely change again, so keep an eye on future balance updates and new unit releases.
