Bridger Western Fishing & Cooking Guide!
Fishing is one of the side activities available in Bridger Western that many players use to earn coins and obtain useful items. Besides being a relaxing activity, fishing can also reward players with valuable resources that help during progression.
By catching fish, you can either sell them for coins or cook them to gain temporary buffs. Some rare rewards can even appear while fishing, making the activity worth trying regularly. In this guide, we will explain how fishing works in Bridger Western, where to get a fishing rod, the rarity of fish, and what rewards you can obtain.
How Fishing Works in Bridger Western
Before you can start fishing, you need two things: a fishing rod and bait. After equipping your fishing rod, you can cast your line into the water. When a fish bites, a Quick Time Event (QTE) will appear. The time you have to complete this event depends on the rarity of the fish you hooked.
Using bait is important because it doubles the pull speed, making it easier to catch fish successfully. Each catch consumes one piece of bait.
Where to Buy a Fishing Rod
To start fishing, visit the Tackle Bait fishing shop.
Here you can purchase:
- Fishing Rod – 150 coins
- Bait – 15 coins each
Once you buy these items, you are ready to begin fishing in nearby water areas.
Fish Rarity Chances
Fish in Bridger Western are divided into several rarity tiers. The chance of catching each type varies significantly.
Here are the current drop rates:
- Common Fish – 81.7% chance
- Rare Fish – 16.25% chance
- Epic Fish – 2% chance
- Legendary Fish – 0.5% chance
Legendary fish are extremely rare, but they usually sell for a much higher price.
Items You Can Catch While Fishing
Fishing does not only reward fish. Sometimes players can pull other useful items from the water.
Possible fishing rewards include:
Chests
Chests may contain various rewards depending on the loot pool.
Arrow Shards
- Drop Chance: 0.5%
- Grants a random Stand ability
However, there are some limitations:
- If you already have a Stand, the Arrow Shards cannot be used.
- You will not receive Stands that require special obtainment methods.
- If you are defeated while carrying Arrow Shards, the item is lost upon respawn.
- Leaving the game while holding the item will also cause it to disappear.
Rusted Mares Leg
Fishing can also reward a Rusted Mares Leg weapon.
To repair it, you must visit Flint the Blacksmith, who will fix the weapon for 1,500 coins.
Similar to Arrow Shards, this item will disappear if you are defeated while carrying it in your inventory.
Fish You Can Catch
Currently, several fish types are available in the game.
Cod
- Rarity: Common
- Sell Price: 35 coins
Bass
- Rarity: Common
- Sell Price: 45 coins
Snapper
- Rarity: Common
- Sell Price: 25 coins
Golden Bass
- Rarity: Legendary
- Sell Price: 15,000 coins
At the moment, there is a bug where the Golden Bass sells for 1,000 to 1,500 coins, but this will likely be corrected in a future update.
Cooking Fish for Buffs
Instead of selling your fish, you can cook them to gain temporary bonuses.
To cook fish, locate a campfire and place the fish on it. You must watch the cooking process carefully because leaving it on the fire for too long will burn the food.
It is also important to note that Golden Bass cannot be cooked.
Cooked Fish Buff Effects
Eating cooked fish provides temporary buffs depending on the type of fish used.
Cooked Cod
- Reduces incoming damage for about 20 seconds
- Restores a small amount of HP
- Sell Price: 35 coins
Cooked Bass
- Restores a small amount of HP
- Sell Price: 45 coins
Cooked Snapper
- Temporarily increases movement speed
- Restores a small amount of HP
- Sell Price: 25 coins
Cooking fish does not increase their selling price. If you only want coins, it is better to sell the fish directly instead of cooking them.
Fishing in Bridger Western is a useful activity that allows players to earn coins, obtain rare items, and gain temporary buffs through cooking. With a simple setup of a fishing rod and bait, you can start catching fish and slowly build up your resources.
While most catches will be common fish, there is always a chance to obtain valuable rewards such as Legendary fish, Arrow Shards, or rare weapons. Because of this, fishing can be a great side activity whenever you need extra coins or useful items.
