Mermaid Cove Fisch Update Guide Explained!

The latest update in Fisch might look small at first, but once you explore it, there’s actually quite a lot going on. The Mermaid Cove area brings a new system focused on buffs, exploration, and a bit of hidden progression that can boost your overall gameplay. Also check out our Fisch Codes for more rewards!

Most of the content in this update revolves around collecting special shells and unlocking bonuses, along with a few extra features like rod mastery and secret quests. If you’re trying to figure out where to start, this guide breaks everything down step by step.

How to Access Mermaid Cove

To begin, you’ll need to head over to Grand Reef, since this is the main location tied to the update. Once you arrive, go to the middle island and dive underwater. Near the temple area—specifically around where players usually go for Zeus-related progression—you’ll find a hidden path. Look closely to the side of the structure, and you’ll notice a small opening covered by plants.

Enter that tunnel, follow it all the way through, drop down, and climb up the rocks. This will take you directly into Mermaid Cove. Inside, you’ll meet an NPC named Halo, who introduces the main objective of this update.

Mermaid Cove Shell System Explained

The core feature of this update is collecting shells scattered across the map. Halo explains that these shells were lost after recent events, and your job is to recover them. Once you find a shell, you can return to Mermaid Cove and place it on the altar in the center. There are five main shells you need to collect:

  • Shell of Depth
  • Shell of Endurance
  • Shell of Fortune
  • Shell of Swiftness
  • Shell of Wrath

Each shell gives a temporary buff when offered, usually lasting around 30 minutes.

Where to Find Shells

Shells don’t have fixed spawn points, which means you’ll need to explore multiple locations. They can appear on shorelines across many areas, including:

  • Moosewood
  • Ancient Isles
  • Forsaken Shores
  • Grand Reef
  • Lost Jungle
  • Roslit
  • Terrapin Island

As long as the area has a shoreline, there’s a chance a shell can spawn on the ground.

Aside from finding them directly, you can also obtain shells while fishing. This works similarly to treasure rewards, where you catch a fish and have a small chance—around 1%—to get a shell at the same time.

All Shell Buff Effects

Each shell provides a different bonus, making them useful depending on your playstyle.

Shell of Swiftness

This one focuses on speed. It increases movement speed, lure speed, and overall progress speed, making it great for faster farming sessions.

Shell of Endurance

A defensive option that improves control and resilience. It helps stabilize your fishing and makes handling tougher catches easier.

Shell of Fortune

One of the most valuable buffs. It increases luck significantly, gives a chance to duplicate fish, and improves mutation chances. Ideal for farming rare catches.

Shell of Depth

This buff enhances fish size and removes weight limits, while also increasing line distance. It’s useful if you’re targeting bigger fish.

Shell of Wrath

Focused on progression, this shell boosts XP gain and adds unique fishing flexibility, allowing you to fish in more conditions than usual.

Special Shell: Corrupt Shell

There’s also a rare variation called the Corrupt Shell. Unlike the others, this one gives random buffs pulled from all shell effects. The duration can vary from 5 minutes up to a full hour, making it unpredictable but potentially very strong.

Migu Rod Mastery Update

This update also introduces mastery progression for the Migu Rod. One of the standout challenges involves catching a special version of a fish. You’ll need to hook a Blue Lip Batfish, which can eventually turn into a harder variant with extreme difficulty.

Successfully catching it unlocks a unique enhancement for your rod. This upgrade adds a quick reaction mechanic while fishing, where you need to press a key at the right moment to gain extra progress speed. It’s a small addition, but it adds a layer of skill to fishing.

New Rewards and Items

Alongside the mastery system, there are several new rewards you can unlock. These include titles like Mesmerizer and Mesmerized, as well as gear such as Amphibian Boots. The boots are especially interesting because they increase movement speed over time and improve jump height. There are also cosmetic items like a lantern and a rotating accessory that sits on your character, giving a bit of personality to your setup.

Secret Quest and New Hunt

Another part of the update introduces a new hidden questline. By talking to certain NPCs, you’ll unlock missions tied to a mysterious broken phone. This quest isn’t fully straightforward, and players are still figuring out how to complete it. There are clues scattered around, including strange codes and interactions in specific locations. Some mechanics even involve charging the phone or triggering hidden messages.

It’s designed as a community-driven puzzle, so progress may take time.

The Mermaid Cove update in Fisch may not be massive, but it adds meaningful content that improves both exploration and progression. The shell system alone gives players more ways to boost their farming, while the rod mastery and secret quest add extra depth. If you focus on collecting shells and learning where they spawn, you can take full advantage of the buffs and make your grinding sessions much more efficient. Over time, these small bonuses add up and make a noticeable difference in how fast you progress.
