Bite by Night New Update Broke Springtrap DSC Guide & How It Works!

The latest update in Bite by Night has completely changed how killers play, and not everyone is happy about it. What was supposed to be a small system adjustment has turned into something much bigger, especially for players using Springtrap.

Right now, many players are calling the new DSC system overpowered, and after testing it, it’s easy to see why. This guide explains what changed, how the system works, and why Springtrap feels almost impossible to escape. Also check out our Bite By Night Beginner Guide!

What is the DSC System?

DSC stands for Decreased Stamina Drain. It’s a mechanic designed to help killers maintain pressure during chases. Originally, the system worked like this:

  • After hitting a survivor, killers used less stamina
  • It helped extend chases
  • It punished survivors for mistakes

The goal was simple: stop survivors from looping forever and give killers a fair advantage.

What Changed in the New Update?

The recent Technician update completely reworked how DSC behaves. Now, instead of only activating after hits, DSC builds up over time during chases. Here’s how it works now:

  • You gain around 2.2 DSC per second while chasing
  • The effect caps at around 60%
  • If you stop chasing, it resets back to normal
  • Some killers (like Springtrap) have slightly different caps

This means the longer you chase someone, the more stamina advantage you gain.

Why Springtrap is Now Overpowered

The changes might seem balanced at first, but Springtrap benefits from them more than any other killer. Here’s why:

  • He can maintain high stamina almost constantly
  • Survivors run out of stamina much faster than him
  • Doors and obstacles don’t reset DSC
  • He can stay in chase longer without slowing down

In simple terms, once Springtrap locks onto a target, escaping becomes extremely difficult.

The DSC + Scream + Charge Glitch

This is where things get even more unbalanced. There’s currently a method (or bug) that makes Springtrap’s abilities last much longer than intended. To trigger this:

  • Build your DSC to the maximum level
  • Throw away your axe
  • Use the Scream ability
  • Immediately activate your Charge ability

Instead of ending quickly, the charge lasts much longer than normal. This lets you travel huge distances and chase survivors nonstop.

Why This Is So Strong

Normally, Springtrap’s charge is limited and short. But with this setup:

  • You get extended movement
  • You keep high stamina
  • Survivors can’t outrun you

It basically turns Springtrap into a constant pressure machine.

Best Way to Use Springtrap Right Now

If you’re playing as Springtrap, the current meta is very simple. Focus on chasing, not attacking. Stay close to your target and let your DSC build up. Once their stamina runs out, go for hits. If you attack too early, your DSC resets and you lose your advantage. Also, avoid unnecessary actions that break your momentum. The goal is to stay in chase as long as possible.

Survivor Counterplay (Very Limited)

Right now, survivors don’t have many reliable counters. A few things that can help:

  • Force the killer to hit you early (resets DSC)
  • Create distance before chase builds up
  • Work with teammates to distract

Even then, escaping a skilled Springtrap is extremely difficult with the current system.

Will This Get Fixed?

Most likely, yes. The current DSC interaction with Springtrap clearly isn’t balanced. The extended stamina and ability duration go beyond what the system was meant to do. A nerf or adjustment is expected, especially for:

  • DSC scaling speed
  • Ability interactions
  • Springtrap’s stamina efficiency

The new DSC system in Bite by Night was meant to improve gameplay flow, but it ended up pushing Springtrap far beyond normal balance. Right now, he can chase longer, move faster, and pressure survivors almost nonstop. If you’re playing as the killer, this is one of the strongest moments to use Springtrap. But if you’re on the survivor side, expect matches to feel much harder until changes are made. Until a fix arrives, understanding how DSC works is the only way to keep up with the current meta.
