If you’re looking for a mode that really tests your skill and endurance, Waves Mode in Attack on Titan Revolution is where things start to get serious. It throws you into a constant fight against Titans with no real ending, forcing you to survive as long as possible while defending your HQ.
At first, it might feel overwhelming, especially since you start with almost nothing. But once you understand how the system works, it becomes one of the best ways to improve your gameplay and earn valuable rewards.
What Is Waves Mode?
Waves Mode is an endless survival mode where Titans keep spawning without stopping. Your main objective is simple: stay alive and protect the HQ in Trost.
There’s no final wave. The longer you survive, the harder it gets, and the better the rewards become. Your performance is directly tied to how many waves you can clear before going down.
How to Access Waves Mode
You can find Waves Mode in the Mission Select area. It’s located right in the center of the lobby, so it’s easy to spot.
Before jumping in, keep this in mind:
- Public servers allow up to 4 players total
- Private servers allow up to 6 players total
- Playing solo is possible, but much harder
Going in with a team is strongly recommended, especially for higher waves.
What Happens When You Start
Unlike other modes, Waves Mode resets your build completely. You begin with:
- No skills
- No special abilities
- Only your base character stats
However, some things still carry over:
- Passive bonuses from your family
- Active potion effects (very important)
A useful tip here is to use potions before entering, since their effects stay active during the run.
Difficulty Scaling Explained
The mode gets progressively harder the longer you survive.
- Every 10 waves, the difficulty increases
- Early waves are easy and manageable
- Mid waves become more aggressive
- Later waves introduce tougher enemies like Aberrants
This steady scaling is what makes Waves Mode both rewarding and challenging.
How Skills Work in Waves Mode
Since you start with no abilities, your first priority is getting skills. Here’s how it works:
- Clear a wave of Titans
- Receive a random skill crate
- Bring it back to HQ
- Exchange it for a random skill or passive buff
Because everything is random, each run can feel different. Sometimes you’ll get strong skills early, other times you’ll need to rely more on teamwork.
HQ Upgrades You Should Use
The HQ in Trost acts as your main support system during the run. You can spend resources here to improve your chances of survival.
Available upgrades include:
- Max HP increase
- HP regeneration rate
- Instant HP recovery
- HQ refill improvements
- Reviving all teammates in the next wave
Using HQ upgrades at the right time can easily save a run, especially when your team starts struggling.
All Progression Items and Shards Rewards:
As you clear waves, you’ll earn Shards, which can be spent in the Waves-specific shop. These items give permanent or temporary advantages. Some of the most useful ones include:
- Feathered Bicorn (3,499 Shards) Boosts ODM performance, reduces dash cooldown, and improves overall survivability.
- Ascendant Ticket (499 Shards) Instantly upgrades a Titan skill to max level.
- Lazurite Ticket (599 Shards) Improves your chances of getting rare Memories.
- Amethyst Ticket (1,499 Shards) Further increases chances for higher rarity Memories.
- Dice (249–1,249 Shards) Used to reroll Artifact substats, useful for optimizing builds.
- Keys (9–649 Shards) Required for crafting and upgrading perks.
- Boosts (599–1,999 Shards) Temporary 2x bonuses for EXP, Luck, or Gold depending on duration.
Managing your Shards wisely is important if you want long-term progression.
Waves Mode is one of the most intense experiences in Attack on Titan Revolution. It strips you down to basics and forces you to adapt, improve, and work with your team if you want to survive longer. While it can feel brutal at first, it’s also one of the most rewarding modes once you get the hang of it. The more you play, the better your decisions become, and the further you’ll be able to push each run.
