The Stalker Class Survive The Apocalypse Guide – Is It Really Worth It?

The latest update in Survive The Apocalypse introduces a brand-new class called the Stalker, and it immediately stands out because of its unique mechanics and how it scales over time. Unlike most classes that rely on raw stats or weapons, Stalker leans heavily into stacking damage, bleed effects, and stealth. At first glance, it looks overpowered, especially with its ability to gain bonus damage and health just by defeating enemies. But once you dive deeper, things become a bit more complicated.

If you are planning to spend your Blood Gems on this class, you need to understand exactly how it works, how strong it really is, and whether it fits your playstyle. This guide breaks everything down, from skills to performance, so you can decide if Stalker is worth grinding for.

How to Unlock and Upgrade Stalker

To get started, you need 100 Blood Gems to unlock the Stalker class. However, that is only the beginning. To fully unlock its potential, you must upgrade it to level 3, which brings the total cost to around 300 Blood Gems. Once fully upgraded, you gain access to all abilities, including its signature stealth skill. Without max level, the class feels incomplete, so keep that in mind before investing.

Stalker Class Abilities Explained

The Stalker class revolves around its unique weapon and stacking buffs. Here is how each part works in detail.

Bloodthirst Dagger and Passive Scaling

The main weapon for this class is the Bloodthirst Dagger, which comes with several built-in effects:

  • Applies bleed damage on every hit
  • Heals you slightly when attacking
  • Grants +1% damage and +1 max HP per kill, up to 70 stacks
  • Resets these buffs every day

At full stacks, you can gain up to +70% damage and +70 max health, which sounds extremely strong on paper. This scaling makes the class better the longer you survive in a single day.

However, the downside is clear: once the day resets, you lose everything and have to build it up again.

Level 2 Perks

After upgrading to level 2, you unlock additional bonuses:

  • Killing a bleeding enemy grants a temporary speed boost
  • The bleed effect can spread to nearby enemies
  • You gain enhanced stats during Blood Moon events

These bonuses help with crowd control, but the speed boost is fairly subtle and not always noticeable in intense fights.

Level 3 Skill – Stealth Ability

At max level, Stalker gains its most important ability:

  • Become invisible for 7 seconds
  • Gain increased movement speed
  • Your next attack is enhanced
  • Cooldown is 2 minutes, reduced by 3 seconds per kill

This skill is the strongest part of the class. It allows you to escape dangerous situations, reposition, or avoid large groups of zombies entirely. With enough kills, you can reduce the cooldown quickly and reuse it more often.

Real Performance in Gameplay

While the abilities sound strong, actual performance tells a different story.

Early on, the Stalker feels average. The dagger takes multiple hits to kill enemies, and the bleed damage is not strong enough to carry fights. As you stack kills, the damage improves, but it still struggles to match stronger weapons.

Even at maximum stacks, the Bloodthirst Dagger does not outperform heavy weapons like the sledgehammer. In many cases, a single hit from a stronger weapon can kill faster than relying on bleed damage.

Blood Moon Synergy

One of the biggest advantages of Stalker is how it performs during Blood Moon events.

During a Blood Moon:

  • Your stats are boosted
  • Damage becomes noticeably stronger
  • You can nearly one-shot weaker enemies

This is where the class finally shines. In late-game scenarios, especially after Day 100 where Blood Moons become more frequent, Stalker becomes much more viable.

However, outside of these events, the class loses a lot of its impact.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Strengths

The biggest advantage of Stalker is its flexibility. The stealth skill alone makes it one of the safest classes in the game. Being able to go invisible and escape danger is extremely valuable, especially in late-game waves.

It also scales well over time, rewarding aggressive playstyles where you constantly defeat enemies to build stacks.

Weaknesses

The main issue is weapon dependency. Most of the class bonuses are tied specifically to the Bloodthirst Dagger. If you switch weapons, you lose the stacking damage benefit, which limits your options.

Also, the bleed damage is underwhelming. It helps, but it does not replace raw damage from stronger weapons.

Finally, the daily reset mechanic can feel frustrating since you constantly have to rebuild your power.

Stalker vs Other Classes

When compared to other classes, Stalker sits in a strange position.

  • Berserker offers consistent damage boosts without relying on a specific weapon
  • Psychic provides stronger overall utility and control

Both of these tend to outperform Stalker in most situations. The only area where Stalker clearly wins is survivability thanks to its invisibility skill.

The Stalker class brings something different to Survive The Apocalypse, focusing more on strategy and survival rather than brute force. It rewards patience, positioning, and consistent gameplay, especially during longer runs where its scaling can shine.

That said, it is not the best pick for every player. If you are willing to invest the Blood Gems and fully upgrade it, you will get a unique and fun experience. Just don’t expect it to dominate every situation without effort.
