Shells has multiple islands spread across the ocean, and each location offers different NPCs, quests, TideClaws, sifters, and progression systems. As you continue leveling up and upgrading your gear, exploring new islands becomes one of the most important parts of the game.
Some islands focus heavily on early-game progression, while others contain advanced tools, rare shell farming spots, and high-level quests. There are also special teleport points called Nacreous Waystones that make traveling much easier once unlocked. Here is a full island and location guide for Shells.
What is the Nacreous Waystone?
The Nacreous Waystone is a special teleport structure found across the game world. Once players discover a Waystone, they unlock the ability to teleport between all discovered Waystones instantly. This becomes extremely useful later in the game because sailing between islands manually can take a long time. Unlocking multiple Waystones helps speed up farming, questing, and shell collecting. Players should always activate Waystones whenever they reach a new island.
Bay Island Guide
Bay Island is the main starting area for most players. This is where players learn the digging mechanics, complete beginner quests, upgrade inventory space, and purchase early sifters.
The island contains several important NPCs that players will continue using throughout the game. Bay Island is also where many players begin farming Shellings before unlocking better islands.

Each island in Shells serves a different purpose, whether it is beginner progression, advanced shell farming, questing, or unlocking stronger TideClaws. Players who explore every location carefully will progress much faster than players who stay farming in starter areas for too long.
Bay Island helps build your foundation, Crescent Shore improves your farming, Sea Stack Islands introduces tougher shell hunting, while places like Caldera Cay and Solmere push players into late-game progression. Unlocking Nacreous Waystones along the way is also extremely important since fast travel saves a huge amount of time once the world becomes larger.
