Catch a Monster Update Guide – New Boss, Undyne Evolution, Void Pets & Codes

The newest Catch a Monster update has finally arrived, bringing a new boss fight, fresh evolutions, additional Void monsters, and another limited-time event. While the update adds several new systems to grind, many players expected something much bigger after the developers teased a “highly anticipated” event. Even so, there are still a few important things worth checking out, especially if you want to evolve Undine or farm the new materials before everyone else.

New Boss Location and Rewards

The update introduces a brand-new boss on the Circus map that was released recently. You can find the boss inside the large circus tent area. The boss is called Lamper and has around 235 billion HP, making it one of the tougher fights currently available. However, the rewards are the main reason players are farming it.

Lamper Boss Drops

The boss can drop:

  • New Boss Egg
  • Evolution Materials
  • Various Items
  • Vessel of the Thousand Wishes

The most important reward here is the Vessel of the Thousand Wishes, since it is required for the newest evolution system.

How to Evolve Undine

The latest evolution added in the update belongs to Undine, the secret monster found in Tide Land. Undine can currently be obtained through several methods:

  • Secret spawn in Tide Land
  • Rift spawns
  • Event daily task rewards through Undine Jars

The event version of the jar also comes with boosted mutation rates, giving players another chance to hunt stronger versions.

Evolution Requirements

To evolve Undine, you need:

  • 16 Vessel of the Thousand Wishes
  • Additional evolution materials
  • Refined Water Gems for better evolution chances

Using around 30 Refined Water Gems gives players roughly an 18% chance at the secret evolution result.

The update also added two additional evolution variants:

  • Cinderine
  • Tellerine

SS Evolution Is Extremely Expensive

One of the biggest complaints from players right now is the SS evolution system. If you want to upgrade an S monster into SS rank, you need:

  • 5 SS Ascension Slate I items

These materials must be crafted at the crafting station, and some required cores are incredibly difficult to obtain. Many players are currently struggling to farm the correct Soul Star Cores, especially compared to the more common materials. Because of this, fully upgrading Undine into an SS evolution may take a very long grind unless future updates improve drop rates.

New Void Pets Event Explained

The update also continues the Void event system that first appeared recently. Void monsters can appear every four hours during the event cycle. New Void pets added include:

  • Void Scythe Wing
  • Void Ice Plate

Some older Void monsters may also still appear during the event rotation. However, many players are frustrated with how the event currently works.

New Pet Collection Quest

The update also added another Pet Collection Quest tier. These collection quests reward strong permanent bonuses such as:

  • Increased Vault Mark gain
  • Extra Luck
  • Bonus Experience

The rewards are very useful, but the requirements are difficult. The biggest challenge is obtaining high-rank boss monsters, especially S-rank boss variants, which currently have very low drop chances. For many players, this may end up becoming one of the longest grinds in the game.

Is This Update Worth Playing?

The update definitely adds more progression systems, but many players expected a much larger event after the developers teased a “highly anticipated limited-time event.” Right now, the so-called event mostly revolves around the Void system, which only launched recently anyway. Because of that, some players feel the update is smaller than expected.

Still, if you enjoy Catch a Monster regularly, there is enough new content to keep farming for a while, especially: Undine Evolution, Lamper Boss farming, Void Pets, Collection Quest bonuses! The update may not completely change the game, but it does add more long-term grinding goals for active players.
