Escape the Zoo Endings Guide – How to Unlock Sewer and C4 Endings
There are two main ways to escape in Escape the Zoo, and both endings require completely different strategies. One path focuses on digging underground and sneaking through the sewers, while the other lets players destroy the entire zoo using explosives.
Both endings can be completed solo, but knowing the fastest methods and best upgrades makes the process much easier. If you are struggling to survive the guards or want to finish the game faster, this guide covers everything you need to know about unlocking both endings in Escape the Zoo.
How to Get the Sewer Ending in Escape the Zoo
The Sewer Ending is considered the standard escape route in Escape the Zoo. To unlock it, players must dig a tunnel underneath their cage until they eventually reach the underground sewer system.
While digging, you will discover different items buried underground. These can be sold for Bananas, which act as the main currency in the game. Bananas are extremely important because they allow you to buy stronger tools, larger storage upgrades, and useful digging equipment.
Most players usually finish this ending in around 15 to 20 minutes depending on upgrades, item luck, and digging efficiency.
Best Classes for the Sewer Ending
Choosing the right class early can save a lot of time later.
Digger Class
The Digger class increases digging speed by up to 15%. This bonus helps players clear dirt and underground layers much faster without using extra stamina.
Endurance Class
The Endurance class gives additional energy, allowing longer digging sessions before needing food or breaks. Many players prefer this option because it helps reduce food spending and saves more Bananas for upgrades.
Upgrade Your Tools Quickly
As your level increases, stronger digging tools become available automatically. Because of this, early progression should focus heavily on digging, collecting loot, and selling items quickly.
The Gorilla NPC also sells instant tool upgrades for 80 Bananas. Buying these whenever possible can dramatically improve digging speed and make later layers much easier to break through.
Avoid Guards at Night
Nighttime is one of the most dangerous parts of Escape the Zoo. Guards begin patrolling the zoo after dark, and getting caught outside your cage immediately fails the escape attempt.
The good news is that digging underground remains safe even while guards are active. Once you are inside the tunnel, you can continue progressing without worrying about patrols spotting you.
Use Explosives for Faster Digging
Explosives become extremely useful once deeper underground layers start becoming harder to break. Instead of wasting time slowly digging through tougher surfaces, explosives can clear large sections instantly.
Players should start collecting explosives early whenever possible. Trading with the monkey inside the Warden’s office is also a good way to get extra explosives faster.
Buy Sack Upgrades Early
Sack upgrades increase how many items you can carry per trip. This means fewer return runs and more Bananas earned overall.
Since money is important for nearly every upgrade in the game, increasing storage capacity early helps speed up progression significantly.
Dig Straight Toward the Sewers
After clearing the first few underground layers, it is usually better to dig a narrow straight tunnel instead of making large open paths. Straight tunnels save both time and stamina while helping players reach the sewer area faster.
Once you finally break through the final underground layer, your character will fall into the sewer system. Walk toward the large steel gate to trigger the ending cutscene and escape successfully.
How to Get the C4 Ending
The second ending in Escape the Zoo is much more destructive. Instead of escaping quietly through the sewers, players can blow up the entire zoo using C4 charges.
To unlock this ending, you first need to save 1,000 Bananas. After collecting enough money, buy C4 explosives from the Gorilla NPC and place them at four marked locations across the zoo.
Best Class for the C4 Ending
Hoarder Class
The Hoarder class is one of the best choices for this route because it increases sack storage immediately. More inventory space means faster farming and quicker access to the required 1,000 Bananas.
Since this ending depends mostly on money, maximizing item carrying efficiency helps a lot.
Save Your Bananas
If you are aiming for the C4 route, avoid spending Bananas unnecessarily. Try not to buy too much food or waste money on extra explosives early.
Instead, rely on free food dropped by guards or food found underground while digging. Saving carefully helps players reach the 1,000 Banana requirement much faster.
Only Place C4 During Daytime
After buying all four C4 charges, wait until daytime before attempting the final escape.
During the day, zoo visitors arrive and the cage door on the right side becomes usable. This allows players to casually walk outside without immediately attracting attention.
At night, guards patrol heavily and can stop the escape before all charges are planted.
Plant All Four Charges
Follow the objective markers around the zoo and place the explosives in each required location. Once the fourth charge is activated, the entire zoo explodes, triggering the ending sequence and completing the game. Compared to the Sewer Ending, this route is generally faster because it focuses more on earning money rather than long digging sessions.
Both endings in Escape the Zoo offer very different gameplay experiences. The Sewer Ending focuses more on survival, digging, and long-term upgrades, while the C4 Ending is centered around farming Bananas quickly and causing chaos across the zoo.
Players looking for the safest escape usually prefer the sewer route, while those wanting a faster completion often choose the C4 strategy. No matter which path you pick, upgrading storage space and managing Bananas carefully will make escaping much easier.
