The latest Fisch update introduced a mysterious new NPC called the Shady Guy, and naturally, players immediately started trying to figure out what his purpose is. Right now, the NPC does not seem to offer quests, items, or rewards, but there are already several clues hinting that he is connected to a future update.

If you recently found the Shady Guy in Fisch and are confused about what he actually does, here is everything currently known about the NPC and why players believe he is tied to the upcoming Shady Bazaar update. Also check out our Fisch Codes for more rewards!

Where to Find the Shady Guy in Fisch

The Shady Guy can be found near the lighthouse area at Moosewood. However, there is one important detail many players miss at first. The NPC only appears during nighttime. Once the game changes from day to night, head over to the lighthouse area and you should see a strange NPC standing near a trap door. The character is simply named “Some Shady Guy,” which already gives players a clue that something suspicious is happening underneath Moosewood.

What Does the Shady Guy Do?

At the moment, the Shady Guy does not really do much. If you interact with him, he only responds with:

“…”

No matter how many times you talk to him, the dialogue stays exactly the same. There are currently no quests, rewards, or special interactions tied directly to him.

Because of this, many players initially thought the NPC was unfinished or bugged. However, there are actually several hints suggesting this character is teasing future content instead.

The Trap Door Mystery

The most interesting part about the Shady Guy is not actually the NPC himself. It is the trap door located right beside him. Currently, the trap door cannot be opened and does not lead anywhere. Still, players quickly noticed that its placement feels intentional, especially since the latest update heavily teased something happening underground. Most of the community now believes this hidden entrance will eventually become the entrance to the upcoming Shady Bazaar.

Todd’s Dialogue Explains More

Shady Guys Guide in Fisch – Location & What Do They Do?

Another major clue comes from Todd, an NPC inside Moosewood Village. Players can find Todd lying in bed inside one of the village houses. When spoken to, he talks about hearing strange noises underneath Moosewood, including:

  • Grinding sounds
  • Scraping noises
  • Heavy objects moving underground
  • Old tunnels beneath the island

Todd also mentions that something strange exists below the village and says players should return later if he hears more information.

This dialogue strongly connects to the Shady Guy and the locked trap door near the lighthouse.

What is the Shady Bazaar?

While the update has not fully released yet, the Shady Bazaar is expected to become a future underground area or hidden marketplace in Fisch. Based on current teasers, players believe the Bazaar may include:

  • Rare merchants
  • Limited fishing items
  • Secret rods
  • Exclusive bait
  • Underground NPCs
  • Special quests
  • Black market-style trading

Nothing has been officially confirmed yet, but the hints inside the game make the connection very obvious.

Should You Keep Checking the NPC?

  • Yes, it is probably a good idea.

Since Todd’s dialogue mentions returning later for more information, there is a strong chance the developers will slowly update the mystery throughout the week leading into the next major patch. Future updates could potentially:

  • Unlock the trap door
  • Add new dialogue
  • Start a hidden questline
  • Open access to the Shady Bazaar

So even though the Shady Guy does not currently serve a major purpose, he is almost certainly setting up future content.

The Shady Guy in Fisch may seem pointless right now, but all signs point toward him being part of a much larger update coming soon. Between the mysterious trap door, Todd’s strange underground dialogue, and the repeated references to hidden tunnels, the upcoming Shady Bazaar is already becoming one of the most anticipated additions in the game. For now, players can only wait and continue checking Moosewood during nighttime to see if any new secrets appear.
